The simplest way would be to change the wifi password and not give the password to the person using the computer you need blocking.

another way would be to find a filter function in the router so it can filter MAC addresses. you can then add the mac address of the wireless adapter of the laptop you want blocked to the list.

Hi,
You can prevent access from unwanted pcs configuring it on the security settings.
You can find step by step instructions on the manual, from page 27 onwards, available here:

Hope this helps,

You will need to get a hold of att. They will need to have you unplug the 2wire and then reconnect. They will need to reset the gateway from their end. good Luck.

Will my 2wire gateway wireless router (AT&t) support the Ipad2? My network is being recognized, and the internet tower icon is shown, but will not safari or anything else.

If you are accessing the internet from your computer through the 2wire gateway, then the problem is with the IPad settings. I have used many of the apple devices on my 2wire gateway, as well as my parent's 2wire gateway. I would suggest taking your IPad to a local apple store, or best buy and see if it will connect to their networks.

Also, if you keep it in a case, 3rd party cases have been known to block wireless signals from reaching the internal antenna well.

Good Luck!

Earlier today I had a Red Power light and only a green wireless light. Now I have no lights when I plug in the 2wire router / modem. Is the equipment dead or is there something I can do besides replace...

Try the following steps:
1. Disconnect the 2wire gateway power adapter.

2. Reinsert the power adapter directly into the wall socket.

3.Remove any power strips or surge protectors temporarily to ensure that these items are not preventing the 2wire gateway proper operation.Note: Make sure that you are using the power adapter that came with your 2wire gateway.

4. Plug the power adapter into a different wall socket in another room.

5. Press the red factory reset button if available.

6. If the power light is still red, then you will need to replace the 2wire gateway.

Wireless

Your can try changing the channel of the wireless signal by accessing your 2wire Homeportal's interface. try changing it using these recommended channels: 1,5,9 and 11. The channel is usually defaulted to 6 which most of the time conflicts with other high frequency devices.Hope this helps. If you are unsure on how to access your Homeportal's interface you just need to know the default gateway of your device. just go to start>run>type cmd>click on ok>then on the blinking cursor just type ipconfig/all and the number's beside the default gateway is the address of your 2WIRE Homeportal.Just simply open a browser afterwards and access those numbers you found on the cmd prompt. and it should show you the interface of the 2WIRE device.

2wire wireless

By default, a 2wire modem's wireless feature is already turned on. However the wireless light of that will only be on if a device is connected or trying to connect to it.

check wireless settings for your computer as well

2wire 1701 HG Gateway wireless not working

Hi,

There could be a lot of possibilities why you lost your connections at the same time. Could be windows update or changes had been made in your 2wire 2701 HG.Its impossible to say that your wireless adapters turned bad all at the same time.As what you observed , wireless light is off meaning your 2wire doesnt detect any wireless connection. You can try reconnecting them 1 at a time by going to your wireless connection tool or network connections.

If that didnt help, you can use your PC w/c is connected using the USB connection. Using this step, you 'l have a chance to edit and view your wireless network. For you to access your 2wire you must know what your 2wire address {default gateway}. Using your hardwired pc go to start > run > type in cmd then hit enter > on the Dos command screen type in ipconfig and hit enter> youl see your default gateway . It would look like this 192.168.1.254 for example cos sometimes it would vary depending what ISP you have, Open your fav browser and on your address bar type in your default gateway. That would lead you to your 2wire page, there youl have a chnace to view you home network. Check if your wireless encryption and you network name if everything is still the same. {Best thing is to change your wireless name or SSID. Then try to reconnect on your wireless connection for each computer and make sure you have your wireless encryption.

Hope that helps. Pls let me know asap if you need clarifications.

Cheers.

Wireless router

What is the make and model of your router?

What type of internet access do you have (DSL or cable)?

Are you connecting the computer with a cable or via wireless?

If you have verified that the cable connections are correct then I would try to power cycle next.

1. Unplug the modem, router and turn off the computer.
2. Plug the modem in and wait 5 minutes.
3. Plug the router back in.
4. Turn the computer back on.

Let me know the details for the above questions if we need to go further.
