How to get kinect update without signing into xbox live

Make sure to run the Kinect setup and calibration in the Xbox 360 Dash. Move all the way to the right and select kinect settings. Run the setup and follow the instructions there. I got this problem last night. you have to be connected to live, and it should automatically ask you if you want to update. say yes, or you'll be signed out of live and you can't use the kinect. That will fix the problem.
