Could just need the power switch replaced in the system can ushally buy a new one off ebay for a couple of bucks, but if thats not the issue clean the battery connectors and the battery to make sure its getting the best possible connection.

Other then that there could be other things to try but those are the most simplest of fixes for that issue.

If it becomes a motherboard issue then its gonna get costly.

My DS lite just melted a game. Is there some way to fix this problem? It also randomly shuts off.

You need to recharge it and it will stay on and recharge it to make game work again!

Hi, I have a DS Lite 2 years old and I noticed that in several games it´s turning off suddently while the game is running. Restarting, the game starts from the beggining.Sometimes the problem appears...

If you have dropped or bumped the ds lite hard against something then it's possible the black coil near the power switch is loose. This can cause it randomly shut off. The coils is the round topped black thing with 100 printed on it. There are several on the motherboard but you're looking for the one closest to the power switch. Just heat up the solder on both sides of the coil and it should reseat it.

Nintendo ds lite that shuts off unexpectedly

Hi again,

Ive been doing a bit of research and it seems that if the DS lite has had a knock the black coil near the power switch could have been knocked loose which would make the DS lite switch off randomly. If you want to see if thats the problem take the DS lite apart (for a dismantle guide click here) and check to see if its loose... its the black round thing with 100 written on it near the power switch. If its loose then heat up the solder round it and that should reset it.

If thats not it check the L2 transistor is firmly in place, again if its loose heat the solder and reset it.

Another thing you can check is the power switch make sure its solid and doesnt wobble internally i.e. the black moveable part only moves the way its supposed to, as well as checking the solder is solid.

Hope this helps, if it doesn't sort out your issue then get back to me and I will continue to help you.

Nintendo DS shuts off randomly

try to play with the poweradapter connected. If the problem still there you will need probably a new mainboard for your nintendo. If the problem disappears probably a bad battery is the problem. If you can exchange your battery with another NDS lite you can check if it is the battery or mainboard.

DS Light shutting off randomly

I know this may sound stupid and obvious, but are you hitting the power switch while playing? I used to have the same problem when playing "intense" games like racing when I would get totally absorbed and then all of a sudden my DS would shut off and I'd be like WTF?! I took it apart and switched batteries and found nothing wrong with it. One day my sister was watching me and asked "Why did you shut it off?" and then I knew. The power switch is very sensitive if you hit it even just a little it could be enough to shut the power off. I suggest just monitering what happens when the power goes off. Is it a specific game that shuts it off? Enviornmental effects? It should tip you off to the problem. If all else fails you could contact Nintendo and just see what they have to say. =)

Nintendo DS Lite shuts off randomly.

I'm a certified electronic technician and I must say NDS internal screen ribbon connectors are junk! Basically The ribbon connectors are so sketchy that it is not recommended to ever unclip them, if you do there's a good chance it will ever work again once reconnected due to how the connector pins slightly crimp into the ribbon pads.

When a NDS boots up the the onboard firmware constantly tests the LCD screen connections, if there is a break in the connection the NDS will shut down. If your NDS randomly turns off, fails to boot, or powers of when you move the hinge it is most likely the ribbon (flex film) or ribbon connector has failed. The only option to to replace the affected LCD screen.
