Hi there is a toolbar coming up the whole time saying,,,,,WARNING a problem with the cooling system has been detected, please turn of the computer and return for service immediately

Try to fix the problem without taking the laptop apart first but I would recommend using a powerful air compressor instead of a vacuum cleaner.

Welcome to FixYa! Based on the error you have received, this means that the cooling fan of your laptop needs to be cleaned and checked at. This is a common problem with any toshiba laptop. I suggest checking the heatsink of your laptop. If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It's nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.

  1. Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes (for example Toshiba Satellite A70/A75) you have to open the laptop case all the way down.
  2. Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan.
  3. Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air.
  4. I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity.
  5. If your laptop is still under warranty, you can take it to any Toshiba Authorize Service Provider and fix the problem at no charge to you.
Hope this helps! Thank you for using FixYa!

My laptop fan makes alot of noise and gets heated up very quickly.all the games i play cause the laptop to shut down without warning due to overheating.i have tried getting it cleaned, but it doesnt...

Laptop Fan noise:

This seems to be a common problem with laptops over a couple of years old. Dust gets trapped in the copper fins and the fan of the CPU heatsink and reduces the efficiency of the cooling, which results in regular power off's by the laptop as it gets over it's upper temperature setting. The fix is relatively easy, just remove the heatsink unit, blow it clean with compressed air, clean the old CPU heatsink paste off with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and spray a thin film of heatsink paste on the CPU.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

My Averatec 3200 keeps shutting itself down. The

A common problem with all laptop is dust. Sounds like you have 5 years worth of dust stuck in there. You should get a can of compressed air and blow though every vent you can! You want to loosen the dust that's in there and possibly try to blow it out and/or get it closest to the vents.

After that you should take a vaacum cleaner and **** out all the dust you can!

Dust inhibits air flow, alot! Its the number 1 killer of old computers.

When i turn the computer on it starts then

SOS beeps are post codes the computer sends to alert you of problems detected during start up.

The beeps can mean anything from over heating to bad memory detected. Find out what your Motherboard bio is and check Here. This has a handy beep code listing for many of the common mother boards.
Good luck!
Hope this helps!

The fan not working

Hi,

The CPU Fans, once they stop, you should only replace the entire FAN assembly, as it cant be serviced individually..The coil present in the mtor should have burned, this is the common cause for the fan failure

This heatsink & fan assembly can be bought for your system from the below link

http://www.skyline-eng.com/index.cfm

Under the window: Search by Machine click the dropdown menue & choose your system
Most CPU fans come with the heatsink. Try not to buy a fan that comes with a grill over it. That slows the fan down & makes the fan work harder.
Please leave me coment,if you need further assistance

Dell Optiplex GX270 sounds like a jet taking off. What is wrong and what do I need to do to fix it?

Hi,
You have to find out where the noise is coming from. It could be;
1) a fan on your motherboard if it has one
2) the fan on your heatsink that keeps your cpu cool
3) the fan on your power supply unit
4) a cd or dvd rom drive
5) one of your hard drives
6) one or more of your case fans.
7) a fan on your video card if you have one.

You don't want to open your power supply, so if this is the cause of the noise you can replace the whole PSU. Other than that, any other component listed above can be replaced by going to newegg.com for parts.

Good luck,
Hank

My AMD X 2 4000+ Windsor is overheatting

Hi, you shouldnt even switch on the PC if its running at that temperature, machine will be restarting and shutting down on you.
If you just bought it, you should take it back to the shop.
Otherwise you need to remove the old heatsink and fan and apply new thermal paste to the cpu and resit the heatsink, if its still running very hot over 50c you will probably find the cpu has been damaged.

Have a nice christmas
