How Do I Safely Remove Hardware

First off, some of those icons will never be removed, as they are necessary to be there for verification purposes. Safely Remove Hardware is one of them. Any time you plug in a device such as a flash card or external hard drive, devices that read and write data, they show up in this block. Since Windows does delayed writes to save time,l if you simply unplug these devices without letting Windows close out the write cache may cause corrupted files. Right clicking on the Safely Remove Hardware icon will cause a listing of attached devices to be displayed. Clicking on the device you want to remove (unplug) will tell Windows to close out the file cache and dismount the device. Windows will do this and them notify you that the device is safe to remove.

Now, regarding all those other icons that appear, such as OneDrive, volume control, and others, if you don't want them showing up in the taskbar, you can right click on the "^" caret symbol that expands the taskbar, then choose SETTINGS. This will bring up the taskbar settings menu. Scroll down the page to where is says "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" and select that. You will see a long list of possible taskbar icons. Turn off the ones you don't want to see display on the taskbar. This does not remove them from the system, but they will no longer display on the taskbar,

The taskbar is upside down and at the top of the screen

On Windows computers, you should have what is known as the taskbar. This is the gray strip that runs across the bottom of your computer and which displays icons for quickly accessing programs you frequently use. The taskbar also shows the "Start" menu, clock and icons for your Internet connections. Sometimes icons do not appear properly in the taskbar. This usually is because the computer is new and hasn't had icons placed in the taskbar manually, or because a default setting is off in the OS properties. Both are simple fixes.

1.Right-click the "Start" icon and select "Properties."

2.Select the "Taskbar" tab in the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialogue box.

3.Uncheck "Lock the taskbar" and "Auto-hide the taskbar." Check "Show Quick Launch." Since the Quick Launch box isn't available in some systems, you may need to right-click on the taskbar area, choose "Toolbars" and then select "Quick Launch."

4.Navigate to the programs you want to show on the taskbar through the "Start" menu or on your desktop. Right-click the program and drag it to the taskbar. Choose "Create shortcuts here" from the menu that appears. The icon for the program should appear in the taskbar.

My icon for the battery power monitor has dissapeared from my taskbar can you help me get it back please

Do you have Windows 7? If so, you can right-click on the bottom right corner of your desktop (try right-clicking the time/date), where the icons for volume control, wireless, battery, etc... should be and select Properties. You should then see a screen where you can turn on/off the icons/notifications for battery power (sometimes my volume control disappears and i have to do this.
Otherwise you can go here, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Notification Area Icons and you should find the same thing. Then just turn on your battery power icon/notifications.
Hope this helps.
