Re: i bought a computer from best buy
Was it an introductory or trial software?
If it wasn't I would definitely make a fuss with Best Buy, I don't see why they wouldn't just pull a new software off the shelf and give it to you especially if you bought a complete system from them. I would do a screen print showing that the software is not working. First, make sure you haven't disabled it, and it is truly not functioning, BUT let them resolve it their own way first.

Uninstall the software from Spy Sweeper go to uninstall and look for Spy Sweeper and take it out of there. Or go to programs and see if it is an uninstall utility. I use Windows Security Essentials it is free and does all of it behind the scenes. You have to have a legal copy of windows and also pass the WGA in order to download it. The problem is people waste their money on software that is not necessary in today's computing world most of it is free and already built in or offered with Windows software operating systems. You do not need much more than this.
If you decide to load it anyway because you purchased it make sure that you go and check to see if you have anti-virus software installed that can be found in the control panel. If not you will also have to purchase external anti-virus software as well to work with this software. There are free ones to use or purchase. Your provider ISP may even have anti-virus free check your provider site to see if it comes with free anti-virus software. I would use Microsoft Security Essentials personally. It does it all removes spyware and things that are not supposed to be there. Click Here to download this free software and read about it. Hope this assists you. John
I would suspect your computer has a virus or has spyware or malware that is causing this. Restart your computer in Safe Mode and run Webroot and your other security software. If they find nothing then restart your computer and then go online and run this free scan.
To uninstall Spy Sweeper :: let Microsoft Windows uninstall the software automatically.
1.clicking on the Start Button
2. Select Control Panel
3. Select Add and Remove Programs.
Occasionally this method will not work, and produce an error about not being able to uninstall the software. If this happens right click on the Spy Sweeper icon on the right hand side of the toolbar where the clock is located and select exit This will shut down the Spy Sweeper program. Next press ctrl + alt + delete which will open the Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab. Search for spysweeper.exe. If this process is running click on it then select end process. Repeat this step to search for and close the process WRSSSDK.exe. After this is done Spy Sweeper should be able to be removed by using Add/Remove Programs
If it finds a virus you can download repairs for just that virus from places like www.symantec.com Once you get the virus out your software may work.
Personally I can't image why you would pay for the program you bought. Good things on the internet don't cost money. Go download and install Spybot S&D. It's great for spyware and malware because it puts a list of the bad places in your restricted site zones so there's no way you get spybots and malware from them. Then go download and install anti-virus software from http://www.avg.com
Spy Sweeper is for spyware and that is not the same as anti virus software..If you do not have anti virus software, you should consider a getting one of the more popular types such as McAfee or Trend PC Cillin.these are two readily available types .. It is good to have both spyware and virus protection and they are not the same.. Hope this helps you..
I too have Trend PC Cillin ( anti-virus ) and Webroot Spy sweeper... I schedule sweeps at different times so there is no overlap or conflicts.. I am running windows XP Pro ( i do not like Vista... even thou I may not have any choice at some point) but I have not had any conflicts or lockups between them.. There may be some other underlying issue with your system... For what it's worth...
