It may be the device you are trying to connect. shut down everything, unplug , remove batteries, plug in the ISP model, allow the self test, plug in the wireless device, allow it to self test, plug in, reboot the device, laptop, desktop, ipad, phone, whatever. You say you can connect using a Ethernet Cable? Just no connection wirelessly?

Have you tried to reset router. It has to be done in order.
1. unplug router
2. unplug modem
3. shut down computer and restart after waiting 1 min
4. after restarting computer plug power back into modem and wait for all the lights to start blinking
5. after the modem is working plug power back to router and plug in the computer with ethernet cable and make sure you have internet,
6. try to link up with wireless,
If this does not work you will have to setup the router for wireless if it is att wireless you will have to call them to give you the password to set it up.

If I unplug the internet wire from the netgear and plug into the modem the internet works the minute I plug back into the netgear the internet does not work any suggestions

Most likely your router is not configured correctly. you did not indicate which ISP you have but since you can get on line when connected directly to the modem I would assume that one of two things is happening:
your ISP provided a static IP which is in your computer and the the modem is configured as a bridge.
- this option is very unlikely as most IPs are assigned dynamically.

option two your modem is configured as a router and is getting its information assigned dynamically from the ISP. In this case you will need to log into the web interface of your router (typically 192.168.0.1 if not try 192.168.1.1) with login of admin and password for the password.
make sure the WAN interface (Internet interface) is configured for automatic configuration (DHCP)
save the settings in the router.
reconnect the modem to the router and power off the modem first and then the router.
power cycling the modem and router will clear out the arp cache in the modem.
after they power back up you should be able to go back in to the router and verify that the router has obtained an IP from the modem.

It not let me get internet service i unplug it to move from one side of the room to the other and now its not working

You may need to reboot your cable modem before plugging in the router's power cord.

Are you certain that you re-plugged the Ethernet cable from the cable modem into the correct port on your Netgear router?

If plugging your computer directly into the cable modem allows you to go online, then just re-boot the router once all of the ethernet cables are plugged in to the correct places and then power it back on, and you should be okay.

I need to reconfigure the Netgear router

There isn't really much to configure on a cable modem. If the modem is fully recognized by the cable provider (all lights are lit on the modem once connected to the cable (coax) side), then just plugging in the Netgear router's INTERNET connection directly into the cable modem will work fine. If the modem isn't properly recognized, you'll have to call your cable company and provide them the MAC address of the cable modem. The MAC is a 12 digit hexadecimal (0-9,A-F) number that should be on a sticker on the modem itself - it will be listed as six pairs of hex digits. If the cable company doesn't have that particular MAC address attached to your cable account, then it won't work.

Netgear WGT624 router won't connect to the internet

I am in the UK and have found through experience the Netgear's seem to work perfect on a BT line (equivalent of AT & T)
but not on the cable.

I would suggest purchasing a Linksys by Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router as these seem to install in minutes,
saves me hours of wasted time when setting up wireless networks.
