Question about Eureka 2971AV EZ Kleen Bagless Upright Vacuum

Eureka 2971 vacuum

The manual you put me onto is not the same as mine. There is nothing about the duster or "power paw" and I don't know how to use these things.

The duster on this unit is just that a duster the holder for it is to vacuum it off when your not using it it doesn't have anything to do with the vacuum cleaner really. As for the power pawl it is a air driven upholstery nozzle the suction air passes through a turbine which in turn spins the brush agitating whatever it is your cleaning ie. sofa, steps. Simply attach it to the end of the hose and your off just be sure to try and clean any hair or debris for the unit it will not work if the air flow is cut off. Eureka lightforce 300 poor suction, power paw doesn't spin and self cleaning duster doesn't clean its self when the button is depressed.

When this happens to me I do two things. The first is to empty the cannister but when you do (with the vacuum unplugged) stick your hand up inside of where the cannister goes.Sometimes that is filled with debris. Pull as much as you can out. There is another part inside there that you can twist and pull out - this will help you pull out more of the trapped debris. Replace that part and the cannister - usually there's a blockage and just removing some of that debris will cause a bunch more to dump in to the cannister. You may have to repeat this process two or 3 times untill no more debris comes out when you turn the vacuum back on.

The second tip solution is to clean the filter which can be found on the front of the vacuum. There's a clear plastic cover, a black rectangular this that hold the filter sponge and inside of that, the filter sponge. I just rinse the little sponge inside and shake off the thing that holds the sponge (Sorry, don't know the technical terms). Put it back together and you should have suction - viola.

Hope this helps.

You can download the owners manual from below site. About midway down the page, click on "Owner's Guide" tab. Right click on "Owner's Guide" and left click "Save Target As". Save to a file dedicated to your Vacuum.

A manual for this machine can be sent to you from Eureka. Here is a phone number. 1-800-800-8975. That should get you help for a manual and they can send you the accessaries that you are missing. Also the manual will give directions on cleaning your filters.

The power paw on my vacuum machine is not working.Eureka ez kleen

The filter is not the reason it's not working. Take out screws and open Power Paw, remove fur from the roller brush on the right side, there is a small gap where fur winds around tightly, cut off with scissors or pull out with a small toothpick.

I have a eureka power paw that keeps breaking belts. there doesnt seem to be a part that keeps the belt in place

Make sure the roller and turbine bushings are clear of obstructions (hair, etc) and spin without excess resistance. As for a lack of barrier or belt guide, make sure that the bushing blocks on either end of the roller (and turbine, but most importantly the roller) are installed identical to each other (otherwise the roller may be in on an angle causing the belt to mis-track). Possibly a part may be missing or improperly installed, but not likely. What's important to remember is Eureka (Electrolux Homecare Products) designed the Power Paw as a cheap, quick source of income to add onto their uprights to cash into the ever-lucrative market of pet owners dealing with pet hair. Like their upright vacuums, Eureka/lux know extremely well the importance of designing their product with a very FINITE life-expectancy, and hence expecting this product to be anything of a long-term or durable solution is evidence only of you having been mislead by marketing. Of all the turbine-driven tools in use today, this one is the most inexpensive, disposable I've had the pleasure of working with. I got one free when they hit the scene. I took it back to work still in the package after seeing its track record evolve.

Long-term solution if you love these turbine-type tools? (and you should, they're great and solve major issues. I own several different ones and am very attached to them as attachments!). Go to a vacuum store and find a robust, long-life version of what these little things are trying to be. They're in a higher dollar-range, but so's a Power Paw if you start replacing it every few months. Ask for one made by Wessel-Werk. German engineering, been around for decades. The made-in-china knock-offs are better than the power paw, but if you're up for it, the actual tool made by Wessel is the benchmark by miles. The only thing possibly comparable in long-term quality and durability is called a RugRat by guys in our industry, and sold by Vacuflo and Kirby and such for decades and decades now. Most vacuum vendors should be able to hook you up. :)

Eureka Altima Vacuum Cleaner w/Power Paw

The way I resolved the problem was to remove the cover at the end of the power paw. Then remove the so side black covers for the shaft. Remove any debris and hair and then put back together. This solved my problem.
