KENMORE FREEZER MODEL #25323024101

THIS IS A COMMERCIAL UPRIGHT FREEZER WE HAVE HAD FOR SEVERAL YEARS. WHENEVER THE POWER GOES OUT OR WE HAVE A POWER SURGE THE ALARM ON THE FREEZER STARTS BEEPING AND A RED LIGHT ON THE FRONT STARTS BLINKING. THERE ARE 3 LIGHTS ON THE FRONT: A QUICK FREEZE (WHICH YOU CAN TURN ON AND OFF), A POWER ON LIGHT AND THE RED ALARM BUTTON. THE PROBLEM IS WE CAN'T REMEMBER HOW TO RESET IT. WE THOUGHT ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS HOLD IN THE ALARM BUTTON AND IT WOULD RESET, BUT IT'S NOT. ALSO IS THE QUICK FREEZE LIGHT SUPPOSED TO BE ON OR OFF? HELP...

Sounds like the temp sensor is bad or intermittant. Check the connections to the display to see if they are loose. If not, the sensor might be bad, causing it to read the wrong temp. The fact that it is jumping around like that points to this kind of problem.

SOURCE: Freezer alarm stuck on - can't reset

Hi: Does the freezer have a battery backup for the electronics? A 9v. battery in the grill down below. You won't have to remove the grill but pull a small rectangular panel to expose the battery. High end Kenmore freezers have a battery to back up the alarm. The six you see is actually supposed to be a "b" for battery most likely. L.E.D.'s are tough to tell the difference. Buy an new battery and all will be well. I hope this helps, Jeff

I unplug mine and let it take several days. You break a line or punch a hole in a line and the freezer will be ruined. Just let it thaw out on its own to prevent damage.

If the door seal does not seal completely, replace it. This is very important for freezers.

Problem with upright freezer not freezing

It sounds like the unit is low on freon or the compressor is going bad. You have several other components that could be affecting this as well. Make sure the coils are free from dust and clean underneath. This is a bit premature for you to have problems now, especially since it is a Sears product.
