First, locate the horizontal output transistor. This is found very close to, or next to, the horizontal output transformer (also known as the flyback). The flyback should be on an aluminum heat sink, or on the side of the metal chassis. Disconnect or unsolder two of the three legs of the transistor. Measure it with your meter, or plug in the set with the light bulb attached across the fuse.
If the transistor is shorted, or the light bulb doesn’t glow bright anymore, replace the transistor and plug back in. If the light bulb glows bright again, you must replace both the flyback and horizontal output transistor simultaneously. In some cases this will fix the set, but sometimes there are multiple problems with a set.
Go to where the flyback is, and start measuring the diodes and capacitors on the flyback itself. If you don't find any shorts there, it could be a shorted vertical output IC, a shorted sound IC, a shorted disc capacitor in the Hi Voltage/sweep circuit, or in rare cases, a shorted capacitor or tuner.Feel free to ask and post whatever the result of your troubleshooting..

Hope this may help;

Here is a troubleshooting guide for you:

Flyback Transformer

Check the 200V line on the CRT Board, it could be 170V also,

meaning the flyback is not oscillating.

To have the TV working, it should have at least a B+ of 95V

Check the main regulator.

Maximum supply voltage is about 135V on some TV models.

Power is not staying on

This an indication of faulty parts on the ff:

1. Dried capacitor - this will affect the regulation of B+ most common on the low voltage power supply. (check the 160v,35v electroltytic capacitor - 250v rated on the neck board)
2. Volage regulator - I've encountered some unit this is the caused.Overheat after a while which produced an unregulated B+.
3. System IC,relay and its driver - very rare but also to be consider.
4. Oscillator - once faulty no oscillation will produce from the flyback.
5. Dry joints.

I've suspect the #1 and #5 is the caused of your problem so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician to isolate the problem. This is not DIY.

But before the above try this : Shake your plug while tv is on, observe if theres a reaction (intermittent on/off) sometimes because of pulling, bending theres an open in internal wires of plug.

Thanks for using fixya.

Have Ge model 52GW945 tv, it went blank no picture, nothing, I checked fuse its ok what next

Check the swithed mode power supply section. Some sets uses Ics for control the power regulation, while others uses transistors as oscillators and choppers. If the power to the oscillator section of the SMPS is absent, the supply system won't wake up. So many reasons are there. You just check the resistor, usually connected from main DC rectified supply, to energise the oscillator section of the SMPS. In most sets it may be two resistors in serial, usually 270k 1W*2. If any one of this get opened, the power supply will not start up. Check it first and preceed. If the set uses Ic as regulator controller, check the positive supply voltage at the respective pin of the Ic.

I have a 21inch TV (LG golden eye) which is 10 years old from and now i am facing a problem that when i switched on the tv the standby LED of the tv blinks for a few seconds and then automatically off....

This is line output transformer problems. Before changing LOT,watch any dry soldering is there and also check vertical output ic is good or bad ?by replacement methode.
NOTE- if you know the protection pin, isolate the pin and switch on tv through 200watts bulb seriesly.then watch the symptomes.
Thanking you

SET JUST CLICKS WHEN POWER BUTTON IS PUSHED

I would check the low votage regulators, horizontal output and the flyback. The relay is the first stage of the start up process so the standby voltages are suspect as are the oscilation / Hv circuits. how are your trouble shooting skills?
