RCA cables:
connect yellow on DVD to yellow on TV. Connect white (next to yellow) on DVD to white on TV.

OR if you have HDMI cable, connect HDMI on DVD to HDMI on TV.
Insert DVD, press PLAY.
Select proper TV input using TV remote. Cycle thru (Select input or Video etc.)

How do I hook up dvd player with a cablebox?

Most TVs have several input selections on the back so you don't have to go thru the cable box. Look thru your TV owners guide for the best choice

MY TV will not show color on the tv .I have a protron PDS2315 .I don't have the cables that came with the DVD player Does that make the deference?

Hi zapchenk,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.com.

The most common caused of "No color" fault when viewing movies through DVD player are :
1. Wrong TV/DVD format - If your TV is a NTSC system format and not knowingly your DVD player is set to PAL/Secam system format, then there's no color generated to your TV due to incorrect video frequency signal coming from the DVD player.
Solution : You have to sync/match the system format of the TV and DVD player. Check first the system format of the DVD player through the menu. Try to change it from PAL/Secam to NTSC.
2. Wrong hooked up - Since the problem is in video, you have to check the video hooked to your TV and DVD player. HDMI jack is the best option to avoid wrong hooked up because it come with Audio and Video in just one cable. If you are using one RCA cable to connect the video, make sure that it is hooked up to Video in of the TV and Video out of the DVD player, it is usually color yellow RCA jack. If you are using the component video hooked up, you must have 3 RCA cable for video alone. It is color coded as green(Y), blue(Pb/Cb), and red(Pr/Cr) RCA jack.

My advice is to check first the system format and then the video hooked up.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Good luck and take care!

Kind Regards,

My RCA XL100 is hooked up to cable and works perfectly fine. We've had it for ages and the picture is clear, sound is beautiful, and it gets along fine with my universal remote. There's just one...

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.

We don't know how to hook our Phillips DVD to our new Westinghouse HD TV. We have Dishnetwork. We had it hooked up to our old TV and it worked fine.

The easiest way to connect this is to find the cable going from the receiver to the TV and disconnect it from the TV.
Connect this cable to the back of the DVD player where it says "in" or "input".
Next take another cable and connect it from the DVD player output to the TV.

Ok i need to know how to hook up a dvd player to the tv. I need to know now. Thank you nina

Is there a cable antenna connection on the back?

If so, hook the DVD cable out to the TV cable in.

Put the TV on channel 3 or 4.

There may also be RCA jacks so you can hook the audio and video up direct.

Do not know how to get regular T.V. hooked up to this system

try using the red White cables from back of tv to back of dvd player/receiver. Do the same with DTV/dvr or cable box. not sure if cable box has red and white cable outlets, however the DTV-DVR does, The quick patch is from TV to back of dvd (input audio)side,....that should work

How to hook up my dvd player to my cable box

Richard,

I would have to guess that you are hooking up a DVD recorder?

If you are then you take the video and audio cables out of the cable box and hook them in to the DVD R input plugs. The output wires go to the TV video/ audio in. Its just like hooking up a VCR.

Now if you are trying to hook the DVD player up to watch movies then you have to hook up the audio/video cables up from the DVD to the back of the TV into your Video 1/2 input. If you have the Component wires you hook them up the same way.

Now if your TV only has the one set of plugs (video/audio) then goto your local Audio/Video store and pick up the A/V cables that have the "Y" or "T" plug on one end.

I hope this helps you.

Trying to Install

Do you have the red, white and yellow hookups on the back of your TV????? If you don't then you need to get an RF Modulator. You can buy one at Walmart. Older TVs don't have the red, white and yellow hookups. You hook up the RF modulator with a short cable to the cable outlet on your TV. Then you plug in your DVD player to the RF modulator. You also plug your cable for the TV into the RF modulator. It really is very simple. Directions are included with the RF modulator. You will need a short piece of cable also.
