You may have to use the menu buttons on your printer to setup your scanner function now.

And, go to Control Panel and I believe Vista still has an icon for Cameras and Scanners, point to your downloaded programs installation location or point it towards your printer and when it asks for software point it to the location your printer's software is unpacked to.

Let me know if this works for you or not and we can take another look at it tomorrow when I'm free and not falling asleep.

Worldvet

What is the "Compatible Printer" for HP Officejet

This sounds like you got a generic OS driver list. You should have installed the software before connecting to the printer to the computer. If this proceeded, uninstall the generic driver. Then disconnect the data cable from the computer if you are using the USB port option. You can get the Full Software or a basic driver for supported OS versions from: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=2512009& . Select your OS and click next. The file will indicate the printer is an OJPRO7X00 series. (Note Linux drivers are on another site; just follow the links.)

The basic driver does not include the monitoring program that lets you initiate actions from the buttons on the all-in-one; it also doesn't include the programs that tell you the printer status and diagnostic tools at the computer. However, Windows XP, Vista and Win7 all include Paint which can Import from a scanner. Vista and Win7 have other options for importing from a scanner. Third-party scan programs will also work with the basic driver.

BTW if you use the generic driver in the list of printers in the OS, they usually will only let you print not scan to the computer.

I hope this helps.

I have a vista, my hp officejet v40 won't scan

Hello,
I had a similar problem with my Canon Mp 600 there were compatibility issues with Vista, I went to Canon's website and downloaded patches and drivers for the all in one to bond with Vista.
Perhaps a visit to www.hewlettpackard.com and a sniff on their support and downloads page might glean the necessary files/drivers you require?
Good Luck!

Can't scan

If you have Win XP, you can use HP Director to activate the scan.

HP Director is not compatible with Vista. I have to go through Microsoft Office to use my older HP Officejet G35 with Vista. You might have to do the same with the 2410.

I don't know of a one-touch scan option, but it might exist through a different program/software.

HP OfficeJet 6210 All-In-One and Windows Vista

Un-install the printer from the computer using Add/Remove programs from the control panel.

Disconnect the USB cable that connects the printer to the computer.

Go to HP's web site and download the VISTA drivers and install them. When prompted connect the USB cable and wait for the setup to finish.

If the printer still does not function you will need to check with HP technical support as they are still updating some of their software to be FULLY COMPATIBLE with Vista.
