Assuming you still have a recovery partition on your hard drive and you should assuming you still have your original configuration on your laptop, you can hit the F11 key during early bootup and that will lead you into the recovery setup to be used during situations by which you have lost the present, originally working boot-up. I will add you should have created a recovery set of DVD/CDs when you first bought the computer and brought it home. However I must assume you did not do that and so the F11 button has to be used and hopefully the recovery partition is not corrupted. Until you give me more information I will have to leave it as I have written so far.

@ Guest, please SHOW ME where you can download a recovery ISO for any Sony computer. In all my last year of research I have yet to find it on any of the many European and Asian Sony sites that I have visited. Are you suggesting find a recovery iso on a non Sony authorized site? If you are, I suggest you change your NICK to ' fool ' instead of ' guest '.

Your best bet for now is to switch on -hold down F8 and try to boot into safe mode-scroll down the list in the dropdown and select "Last known good Configuration" and select a date before you loaded SP1.Follow the instuctions.Just remember Vista is a 64bit system. You cannot load Vista on a System which formerly had a 32 bit OS .If this does not help, you'll have to format and reload .Regards

Backup for Sony vaio

Hi,

If you got the recovery disk along with the Vaio laptop, good enough.Insert the disk and reboot, follow instruction displayed on the screen to restore.

If you dont have a disk, can try this :--
Reboot and press F11 to try and enter the system recovery mode, if you can then you're good, simply follow the prompts to perform a system recovery.

Let me know the status please.

Thanks

Sony vaio not loading windows

reinstall the OS ! Just overrite it over the previouse xp so u won;t lose data ...

..most probably u are missing some files ... .. or u have virusez issues. Ofecourse there is the posibility of hardware mallfunction, but considering microsofts reputation ... probably thats not the issue ...

Sony vaio not loading windos

Try booting XP with the installation CD & use the recovery console to boot the laptop.

From the Setup CD-ROM

Insert the Setup compact disc (CD) and restart the computer. If prompted, select any options required to boot from the CD.
When the text-based part of Setup begins, follow the prompts; choose the repair or recover option by pressing R. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access from the Recovery Console. When prompted, type the Administrator password. At the system prompt, type Recovery Console commands; type help for a list of commands, or help commandname for help on a specific command.

To exit the Recovery Console and restart the computer, type exit.

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

I have Windows Vista installed on my laptop. I install all the automatic updates. Recently Vista downloaded Service Pack 1 and I installed it. After the installation my laptop stopped working. I can...

Your problem: "I have Windows Vista installed on my laptop."

Unfortunately, as with a lot of MS service packs, they can crash some computers. You need your windows vista disk and, booting from it, you can select repair your vista installation. This should take care of the problem. Then don't update to sp1 for a few months.
