Registry cleaners/fixers only go so far and will NOT fix this issue. Anyone who suggests the use of a Reg fixer program when it comes to any Norton product needs to have his head examined and should not be commenting on any software or hardware computer issue.
Aamelia, if you want your problem truly fixed, then visit the Norton website here http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039 and download the Norton removal tool for whatever Norton product you are having problems with. Use it to remove the program files and registry entries ( all of them ). Once you have properly used the necessary removal tools, then reboot the computer. With luck and a pinch of salt, you will have accomplished your asked-for task. I personally from many years of using Norton's removal tools would suggest more then one reboot before installing any updated Norton program. Realize that these removal tools sometimes are only as good as the programmers who create them and don't always work as well as they might or should. But they are most definitely far superior to any Registry modification program that is likely to be suggested by ANY guest on this website.

@Danmart, working with DOS and Norton at the same time is a thing of the past basically 15 years in the past. I have been using Norton removal tools since they first came out and they do help most of the time, however they also have their limitations, in that the early versions would not remove certain data storaged under the OLD documents folders where various so-called personal information was kept. As a result, often the removal tool could not completely finish the task as created by the programmer, and a person had to go in and ' manually ' remove the items that were creating the discomfort. I.E. the programmers had not taken into account subfolders that needed to be removed before a clean re-install could be properly accomplished. It has been a long time since I have used Norton ( I do NOT recommend any Symantec programs anymore ) and I'm hoping those gripes of old have been reconciled with better programming. I would not be surprised however to learn that my assumptions are wrong and that the Symantec programmers are still well behind the curve when it comes to properly removing their programs.

Error 21is caused by missing System files or damaged registry stuctures. The only way i think you can repair it is to download Regcure and scan your PC.Once the Registry is repaired you can then uninstall Nortonshttp://simple-pc-help.com/support/downloadb.php

Cannot delete or remove awindow "Window - No Disk and message: exception Processing Message 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c

This problem seems to be caused either by malware (virus or spyware etc), or by software following a Windows update or some other software installation or uninstallation (particularly HP, Norton or QuickTime software) trying to check for removable media that isn't there (e.g. disc in DVD drive or card in card reader), when it shouldn't be doing that check.
Please try these steps:
scan your computer with a virus checker and anti-spyware etc, clean any infections and reboot if that doesn't work, try changing your drive letter assignments (you can refer it from Microsoft Help instructions), if that doesn't work, try uninstalling your floppy drive or just always keep media in all your drives, though the next two steps are preferable if they work, then try making your software stop looking for drives: e.g. uninstalling and reinstalling an upgraded (or latest possible) version of QuickTime; similarly with your Norton and HP software if you have any, and clearing your most recently used documents or files lists. best regards

if you are installing it from disk check that the disk is free from dirt/dust and scratches this could cause files to be read as corrupt because they cannot be read properly.

IF Norton is running (you'll see the icon next to the clock) you have to stop the service first. You might be able to right click the icon, and tell it to exit, or go to Task Manager, and stop the processes related to Norton. Once you have the processes stopped, then try uninstalling it.

Yes you need to uninstall any and all antivirus programs installed on your computer. After uninstalling, make sure to reboot your computer. Do that for each antivirus or internet security software you have installed. Once done, it Norton 360 should install. If you have troubles uninstalling AVG, check their support area on their website. I'm not sure if you have a paid version or the free version but here are the sites for both.

Hello fayerogers02

This is process is confusing for many people. So, don't feel like The Lone Ranger.

Actually, you'll need to click on the "download" link in the email sent to you by Symantec in order to download your new software. What you have done so far is to purchase the product along w/ a subscription for antivirus definitions updates for one or more years.

Usually, the course of action is to uninstall previous versions of their software. However, Symantec's installation processes have gotten pretty good about letting the user know if the previous version of the product needs to be uninstalled.

Often times, the installation process of a newer version of a Symantec product will take care of uninstalling its predecessor for you.

IF you have purchased a newer version of the SAME Symantec product (e.g. Norton Antivirus), then I recommend you download the new product and run the install.

See if it will take care of the uninstall of the previous version for you. If you need to uninstall the previous version yourself, you will be prompted to do so.

IF, however, you have purchased a DIFFERENT product that happens to also INCLUDE Norton Antivirus, please, don't run the install yet. Instead, post back here and let me know exactly what each of the two Symantec products are called (the older and the newer one) and I'll instruct you in how to handle the installation process of the newer one.

If you have ANY more questions at all, please, post back here and let us know. We'll be more than happy to continue to assist you.

Please, wait until you have everything you need and you no longer need our assistance b4 assigning a rating.

If I answered your questions and you have no other questions or need of our assistance on this topic...would you kindly take just a moment to close the problem by assigning a FIXYA rating for my "solution"? I would be very grateful for your generosity and show of appreciation.

Thank you once again for using FixYa! Have a beautiful day.

Deans867,

read carefully..Its probably telling you to insert the CD so it uninstalls and then re-installs Norton 360. When it uninstalls it gives u a warning message "you will loose 366 days. .. "

Just a Note: Norton 360 will slow your PC down. and do unwanted things. I have trouble shot issues involving Norton 360 and wireless connection issues amongst many others.. If you can return it your better off without it.

It is cheaper and more effective to purchase such products as:
AVG or Kaspersky
or maybe even a Opensource Freebie like:
Calmwin from Sourceforge.net

Good luck,

Norton 360

Hi Sheba,

Yes you can load norton 360 on your new pc. If you have all the license codes, just remove the trial version from your new pc and installed the full version of 360. To uninstall you can either go to control panel -> add remove programs and select the nortan trial software. Or you can find an installation's link under the program list. Hope this helps.
