I have a platinum keyboard, and am having trouble getting the cut/paste keys to work. Is there a switch or key press I am missing?

Cut and Paste controls for windows are via the control key.
i.e. Control+C copies the highlighted item.
Control+V pastes the item back into the current window.
Control+X Cuts the highlighted item (i.e. removes as well as copies it)

Mouse touch pad not working

'F9' keys has a mouse, no mouse looking symbol. sometimes you use the 'Fn' key in conjunction with 'F9' key, sometimes not. Give it a try by itself and use it. If not hold the Fn key and hit F9 and try again.

Function Buttons are not working in conjunction with (FN) Key for Screen light adjustment and other features.

As far I know FN keys are related with specific motherboard drivers.
Thoshiba recovery cd/dvd during restore/re-install, loads all toshiba drivers and utilities for operating fn keys.
If the operative system loaded in the laptop is no OEM then you will have this problem, and in order to fix it you must:
First install the operative system (clean install)
Second install: chipset drivers. This drivers instructs the operative system how to detect specific hardware. Must be installed in first order.
Third: install drivers (ethernet card, audio, video controller, toshiba utilities, etc). At this point verify all FN keys ( check display settings, stand by/ hybernation, etc).
four: Load all software needed (microsoft office, etc).

I hope this help to solve your problem

How do I use s-video output to s-video input on the tv

Once they are connected via a S-video cable, you need to hold down the Function button on the keyboard (near the lower left corner, beside the Windows key) and press the key along the top that has the picture of the external monitor. These function buttons are used in conjunction with the function key (hence the writing is the same colour) much the same as a control key or a shift key.
The button will toggle through 3 modes - internal display only, external display only, and both displays.

Utilize the numLK button located in the upper right area of the keyboard. Depending on the layout, you may need to press it in conjunction with the Fn or Shift key.
