Reset the memory,with the laptop battery out and the adapter unplugged locate the memory access plate on the bottom,take the screw out and then carefully pry up the plate to access the memory,to take the memory out you will have to push out the plastic locking tabs located on each side of the memory stick at the same time until the memory stick springs up and then slide out away from the connector till the bottom of the stick is clear.If you have 2 sticks take them out and then install the sticks one at a time.If that doesnt work then try to narrow it down by unplugging the cd rom,hard drive,etc.If none of these work then you most ;ikely have a short somewhere ,inspect all ports and make sure none of the pins are touching especially the usb ports and the pcmcia slots,look for damage anywhere that might indicate it was dropped or fell.If the motherboard is at fault you will have to have it serviced by a qualified technician.good luck
