I just purchased a creative zen mp3 player. I run ubuntu operating system. The box instructions say that after inserting the cd a dialog box will appear and guide the installation. No box is appearing. The creative icon is visible on my desktop. When i open it all the folders on the disk are displayed, but nothing will run. Please help.

hello,all you need to do is just to get the usb cord of your zen mp3 and connect it to your laptop/system that you have your choice songs installed on it.
If you have a particular CD that you want to install the songs on it on your zen mp3 player,all you need to do is just to insert the CD into your laptop/system,then you copy the songs from the CD to the laptop/monitor.
After you have done that,you then connect your zen mp3 to the laptop/monitor with your usb cord to simply copy the songs from the laptop/monitor that you already copy from the CD to into the zen mp3.
with the above instruction you can copy as many songs as you wish....

Get downwards on this page and go to Manual selection.
Next choose your language and the Operating System, in this case: Vista and SUBMIT.
The name of the application software for Vista is called:
ZNV_PCApp32_LA_6_41_10.exe

What operating system you are using? it should be 'rollup 2 windows xp for media center 2005' and your player should be 'windows media player 11' then install creative centrale version 1.4.5.0.

then insert d CD and boot from the CD!

I've had the Zen working fine on various versions of Ubuntu - it's worth upgrading though.

I heard the KZenExplorer isn't really supported that much, I tend to use Gnomad2, it seems the option of choice.

Creative Zen uses MTP which is a Microsoft jobby. Gnomad will allow you to transfer files between Ubuntu and your Zen, and you should be able to find Gnomad under the Add/Remove option in Applications.

The CD that comes with the Zen installs the ZEN Media Explorer. If you are using Windows you go to My Computer then select ZEN Media Explorer. There you click on "Add
iTunes Media" and select the podcast from the available podcasts in iTunes.
