All 3 lights on the settings dial are flashing red at the same time and shutter button cannot be pressed. Why is this?

Apparently this means you need to change the batteries (according to the instruction manual). It says you must use four batteries of the same brand and same power level, preferably camera batteries.

60d flash pop up

Mode dial is set to an auto mode or the setting is set for flash photography. Change that and the built-in flash unit won't pop-up every time you press the shutter button.

We have the intermatic timer Model EJ351 and when I go to set the timer at the beginning it does not flash. It is when I start from off to on. Mary Ann

Mary Ann:

It appears that it will start flashing when you move from off to on. Here are the directions from the web site.

Gary

Move the control lever to the OFF-CLEAR position for about

20 seconds. The red indicator light will go off and any previous

time settings will be cleared from memory.

Move the control lever to the ON position. The Red indicator

light will start flashing.

Rotate the time dial clockwise at least one click, stopping at

the half hour nearest to the present time.

NOTE: During programming, be careful not to press the

dial while turning it. If you press the dial, you will accidentally

set a wrong time.

Press the dial once to set the present time. The Red indicator

light will go off.

Rotate the time dial clockwise to the first desired ON time.

The Red light will pulse momentarily with each click.

Press the dial once to enter the ON time. The light controlled

by the switch timer will turn ON.

Rotate the time dial clockwise to the desired OFF time.

Press the dial once to enter the OFF time. The light controlled

by the switch timer will turn OFF.

Repeat Steps 5-8 for each additional ON/OFF setting.

Continue to rotate the time dial until the Red indicator light

comes ON and stays ON, indicating that the switch timer is in

AUTOMATIC mode.

I have a intermatic ej351c indoor wall switch programmable timer that I have tried several time to program an on time for the lights to come on however the lights does come on. I have followed the...

There might be a couple things that are easy to overlook.

Press the button to see if lights come on >>> if light do not turn on with manual override, then light might be burned out or circuit breaker tripped. Sometimes a breaker is tripped but you can't tell by looking at it

1) The timer is used on incandescent bulbs only. I don't know why, but it says no
  • Compact Florescent
  • Energy Saver
  • Flood lights
  • Halogen
  • Mercury Vapor
  • Christmas lights
  • Candelabra bulbs
2) Is the red indicator light ON?
For programs to work, timer has to be in automatic mode and the red indicator light will be ON
The Switch Timer can be used in two modes. manual & automatic
To switch between modes, quickly press the dial twice:
AUTOMATIC MODE: The Switch Timer will turn your lights ON or OFF according to programmed settings. The RED indicator light stays ON when in Automatic Mode.

MANUAL MODE: Programmed settings are inactive, and
the Switch Timer will only turn the light ON or OFF when
you push on the dial.
RED indicator light stays OFF when in Manual mode.

3) setting current time> lets look at the red indicator light while doing this
Move switch lever to OFF-Clear
Move lever to ON >>> red indicator is flashing
Rotate dial to nearest current time (if it's 7:20 pm, rotate dial to 7:30pm)
Press the dial once to set current time > red indicator light goes off
Do not accidentally press dial or it will set the wrong time....ok we know that

4) overlapping programs/
Make a chart of the times you want to program with ON and OFF plus am & pm
Check your chart for overlapping times that tell the timer to do more than one thing

Rotate dial clockwise to the first ON time >> pay attention to am & pm
Press button and first ON time is set
Rotate dial clockwise to the first OFF time >> watch the am and pm
Press button and first OFF time is set
You can have 48 on-off times >>> which seems a lot for a 24 hour repeat timer

5) try the timer with one program

6) If timer still doesn't work, put switch back in and see if lights turn on that way >>> it could be a loose wire suddenly cropped up

Last step >>> timer is no good, you need another one. We tried.

setting an incorrect time.)
4. Press pushbutton once to enter present time. RED INDICATOR will go OFF, present
time has now been recorded.
5. Rotate time dial clockwise to desired ON time; RED light will PULSE momentarily
with each click.

9. Repeat Steps 5-8 for each addition ON/OFF period.
10. Continue to rotate time dial for at least 24 hours from the first ON time to complete
this program, at which time the RED INDICATOR light will come ON and stay ON,
indicating timer is in AUTOMATIC mode. NOTE: Dial does not rotate automatically
after setting to indicate time of day.

I followed the instructions in the manual, and put new batteries in + side up. Then I continued with the rest of that step, but I did not see a flashing red LED light anywhere. I do not understand what to...

A few things to try, based on my FG's operation: - The most obvious- are your batteries good? Correct type? If they are: - When all is well the red LED metering lights will appear in the viewfinder window on the right side, in the range of shutter speed numbers. - The red LED metering lights are only activated when you press the shutter release button (halfway). The lights go out after a few seconds if the shutter button is not held down. Just tap the shutter button to reactivate them. - The shutter speed setting dial must NOT be on B (Bulb) or M90 (non-electronic Manual mode) if you want to see the red LED metering lights. The lights do not operate on these two settings because metering is irrelevant here (you'd be doing the metering, not the camera). - If you're in P (Program mode) the lens aperture must be set all the way to the smallest setting (usually f22 or f16, depending on the lens). If not, you'll only see blinking lights at the top and bottom of the shutter speed range on the right in the viewfinder. That's a reminder to set the lens to the smallest (highest numeric) aperture.
Hope these help. The FG is a great little camera.

1 Open the lens barrier fully.
• The current flash setting is displayed on the monitor.
3 Press íagain to set the flash mode.
• Each time you press í, the flash mode changes in the following sequence:
“AUTO” – “ Red-eye reduction” – “ Fill-in flash” – “ Flash off”.
4 Press the shutter button halfway.
• When the flash fires, the orange lamp lights steady.
5 Press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
Flash off, ( it looks like a lightening strike with a line going through it) that will dissable the flash

Slow shutter speed

from the manual: Using Shutter-Priority Mode 1. Set the mode dial to S (shutter-priority) and a yellow arrowhead on the screen points to the current shutter speed. Press the jog dial and the current shutter speed turns yellow. 2. With the current shutter speed displayed in yellow, rotate the jog dial to select the speed you want to use. 3. Take the picture. If a workable aperture isn?t available for the shutter speed you?ve selected, the shutter speed indicator on the screen flashes when you press the shutter button halfway down. You can use the setting as is, or press the jog dial down to select the shutter speed again and rotate it to select a new shutter speed.

A flash problem

there could be a few reasons for that: 1. The Mode Dial has been moved to another setting - Set the Mode dial to the correct setting. 2. The flash is set to Suppressed Flash mode - Set the flash to Auto, Red-eye Reduction or Forced Flash mode. 3. You pressed the shutter button while the flash was charging - Wait until charging is complete before pressing the shutter button.
