This display uses a capacitive touchscreen. It relies on the conductivity of your finder work. It may be that it has lost sensitivity and only works when there is a path to ground through your body. If this is the case then the touchscreen will need replacing.

Anytime I purchase second hand devices, especially Apple, I go on Ebay.com. It sounds like you're in the UK so you may want to search on Ebay.uk to keep shipping costs down.
Just type in your model. I purchase quite a few Apple products and the particular power supply you're searching for should be under 15 pounds UK.
Very often the problem is that when an LCD monitor is dropped, the ribbon cable and power cables which have very little slack become partially unconnected from the ports they plug into. Unplug the monitor, remove the back casing, and have a look to make sure the ribbon and power cables are seated properly. If in doubt, reseat them by hand.
I purchased a HP Pavillion Slimline computer that was accompanied by and HP flat screen monitor: HPw1858. My problem is that the power cord is missing. Can you help me locate somewhere I can purchase this cord?
Contacted viewsonic about this issue- they suggested- have both dvi and vga hooked up to same machine. start with poweroff on both. power on monitor, then power on computer. when you see display coming from the vga, power off pc, then disconnect vga cable, turn off power to monitor, disconnect power cord from monitor for 5 + seconds, reconnect power cord, power on monitor, then power on pc.
If this doesn't work to get the dvi working, (as happened to us) we returned our monitor for a replacement, since it was still under warranty.
