Assuming the TV has a VGA input socket, just connect the laptop with a VGA cable and set the resolution to equal the specification of the TV.
That will do it.

Sony Kdl-40ex710 standby bulb is twice blinking

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Trying to connect laptop to my Sony kdl-40S2010 TV. I get image on laptop but nothing on TV. How do I set input on my Sony (there's no input button)?

Hi!

First let's be sure that video signal is coming out of your laptop. You did nor mention your laptop make/model and the connection cable type you are using between laptop and TV (VGA or HDMI or S-Video ). I'll assume it is a common VGA cable.
Now, on every laptop the user can choose where the image is displayed: on the laptop only, on the external monitor/TV/projector or on both displays. This can be done by pressing the Fn key toghether with one of the F1 to F12 keys. Usualy it is Fn and F5, but other laptops use other key instead of F5. (please check the icons on your Fx keys, there must be something like two displays side by side). Each time the keys combination is pressed, the image switches between the 3 positions: only laptop, only external, or both displays.

Please let me know if it helped.

If you are using something else than VGA cable, please post again also mentioning what type of laptop you have.

Regards,

Bogdan

I have recently bought a sony bravia model number KDL-40EX710. The input channel either keeps flicking to another input channel, ie AV1 to HDML or when on AV1 or AV2 the channel confirms itself at the top...

Your connections might be loose and the tv is constantly recognizing the connection over and over, that would explain the pop up. I would imagine the picture would be distorted somehow if that was the case but worth a try. If the problem persists after trying a good new cable then I would call the manufacture.

How do I connect my laptop to a Sony Bravia model KDL-40S4100?

Two options are available to you-

1. Through VGA Cable(Same cable which goes from CPU to PC Monitor)- For Video.
Take to PC Mode from MENU -> EXTERNAL I/P -> PC.

2. Through HDMI Cable.
Take to HDMI Mode from MENU -> EXTERNAL I/P -> HDMI.

If Still No Video
CASE1- 'NO Signal' Message Comes, then toggle the laptop screen with Function Key (depending upon laptop company).
CASE-2- 'Un-Supported Signal' Message comes then adjust the resolution to 1024*768 or 800*600 or as mentioned in Manual.

Please intimate me if any other problem comes after that.
