A PS3 Component cable would be the next best option if the TV has Component connections

I need to connect a console to a Sansum LED TV

You need to fino a cable to connect to it, most new Blu-Rays have what is called HDMI, this is also found on newer Xbox 360 and all PS3, whan it says HDMI, the best thing is to get an HDMI cable (don't pay more than $10) and plugging into it and the TV. There you have all of what you need. If the console does not have an HDMI, you need to look for an specific A/V cable that connects to the TV, it may also be a component cable, in any case, you need to connect each cable to an specific port of a color, the white and red (last 2) represent audio (left and right) and will output stereo audio. If something can't be seen when using HDMI, you will need to use A/V to lower the Definition to 480i then slowly raise the definition to 720p then 1080i

PS3 surround sound

You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.

All of a sudden, no sound on PS3, great pic though. Using HDMI cable...have checked all connections, reset PS3, etc. Still no sound! Guy from Sony said my HDMI cable(Monster) could be bad?! No sound, but...

I agree with the guy from Sony, the reason for this is the HDMI cable should support the transfer of audio and video over the same cable, if your only getting video over it, the cable could be defective, or its possible that you have another cable in the spot where speakers should go that is over riding the HDMI.

What exactly is the HDMI cable plugged into? Is it direct from TV to PS3?
If you have a stereo set lying around that supports HDMI - try having it run through that.
Is the TV muted? check if you can get sound while watching normal TV channels.
Worst comes to worst, use RCA Plugs remembering that the composite video is (yellow) and stereo audio is (white and red). You don't need to connect the composite video, but connect the stereo audio.

If this did not solve the problem, please leave a comment and I'll get back to you once I can =)

First off make sure ALL Units using HDMI are Powered OFF! Connect Cable, Then turn on all components. On the PS3 Crossbar (Menu) go to the 2nd column on the left, Then down to Display Settings. Choose Output Settings, Choose HDMI, Use AUTOMATIC. Then do the same with the Audio, HDMI, AUTO Make sure your TV is on the Right HDMI Input! Good Luck!

Surround sound for ps3 with a hdmi cable..

you need a HDMI connection for your stereo. HDMI is an all in one cable so if you don't get your sound in/out you need to hook up to just the RCA's, if you get a reciver that has an HDMI input you will solve this. then you go HDMI to Reciver then HDMI to TV

PS3 won't connect to TV with component video.

You need to connect the PS3 to the television with both connectors (HDMI and Component). Then in the display settings change it from HDMI to component and during the 30 seconds that the screen goes black you need to disconnect your HDMI cable from your playstation. Then switch to the input that the component cable is connected to on your television (ie. AV1, AV2, etc). From here you will see the countdown for the test and you can continue with these settings.

Ps3?

Check the couplings at either end of the cable. Sometimes these will loosen and can cause a lack of signal strength.

but its probably not the cable, its probably the ps3. HDMI cables don't really break because they are just wires, they don't have moving parts. Try connecting your PS3 to your TV with the regular cable red, white, and yellow connectors that you got when you bough the PS3. If the PS3 doesn't work with the original red, white, and yellow connectors then you know its the PS3. If the PS3 does work fine, you know its either the HDMI cable (still unlikely) or the HDMI connection on your TV or PS3 (more likely

Connecting ps3 to cinema system

There is no substitute for HDMI. However, the 'digital in' cable connection that you want to use is still digital and will sound almost exactly the same. The differences are barely noticeable to the human ear. Here is a list for you to see the pecking order of each type of connection.

Audio connections from best to least go in this order:
1. HDMI (digital)
2. Fiber optic (digital)
3. Coax - Digital (digital) <--- The one you want to use.
4. Component (analog)
5. RCA/AV (analog)

Video connections from best to least go in this order:
1. HDMI (full HD digital)
2. Component (Blue, green, red, white, red - HD analog)
3. S-Video
4. RCA/AV (Yellow, white, red)

Good luck!!
