I have an HP deskjet D1560 printer. I'm using Vista 64 bit operating system. I can print from my e-mail file as well as off the internet but when I'm in Quicken 2008 program nothing prints. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both quicken and printer driver till I'm blue in the face. It's not working. I also tried emulation without sucess. What's the answer?

    I'm not worried about printing eight or more checks. I can't print even one. Also I have the latest version of Quicken, 2008. I'm sure the patch remedy will not do me any good.

    I have an HPDeskjet D1560 printer which I purchased with a new HP Pavillion slimline s3500f computer. The printer will not print when I'm in my Quicken 2008 program. It will print from my e-mail file and when I'm on the net. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Quicken and printer drivers and even tried the emulation process without any success so far. Can anyone help.

I suggest replacing or testing your print to other platorms like canon printers which can easily adopt 64 bits, HP drivers can sometimes cause conflicts.

either the firmare is causing this problem or the format itself...

Canon Pixma MX310 is the best choice, I assure you this will surely work

Hello dfoxworth,

Once you are ready to print, go to file, print, (do not select quick print).
Once the printing window appears, make sure to select HPDeskjet D1560 printer and not windows letter writter or some kind or preinter that comes already as an option is many computers.

    Try to carefully re-installed Quicken and do a backup restore.
    That should do the trick..

There is piece of software which is causing this problem you need to contact Quicken 2008 and get the setting changed to print , as the printer prints in other application ....

Okay, we need to uninstall the printer. Go to Devices and printers~right click on the HP printer and left click on Remove device. Then reboot. The correct drivers should get installed automatically. If not use the installation CD that came with the printer or better still (if the printer is old) go to the HP web site and download the Win 7 drivers/software for the F4400.

It is possible that you are attempting to install a 64-bit version of Java when you have a 32-bit operating system. Check your operating and confirm this. In Vista you can find this using Start > Control Panel > System. This is similar if you have Windows 7. Here is what it looks like:

If after that you, you follow these instructions from Sun (Java) to locate and install the 32-bit version.


Error: x64.exe not a valid Win32 application This article applies to:
  • Platform(s): Windows 7, Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 2003
  • Browser(s): Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla 1.4+
  • Java version(s): 6.0
SYMPTOMS

While trying to install Java a user gets an error message similar to:
' ... x64.exe not a valid Win32 application'


CAUSE

The error message is a result of trying to install a 64-bit version of Java on a 32-bit operating system.
SOLUTION

User needs to install a 32-bit version of Java software, since a 64-bit version is not compatible with their 32-bit operating system.

Follow these steps to download 32-bit Java
  1. Go to Manual download
  2. Click Windows XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Online.
  3. The File Download dialog box appears.
  4. Choose the folder location.
  5. (Save the file to a known location on your computer, for example, to your desktop).
  6. Click Save.
  7. Close all applications including the browser.
  8. Double-click on the saved file icon to start the installation process.

32 bit IE won't connect to internet in Vista 64 bit.


32 bit programs, last I checked, won't work in a 64 bit operating system, just as 64 bit won't work in 32 bit operating systems.

If 32 bit programs will work in a 64 bit OS, they probably won't work properly.

You will find the 32 bit browser on your Vista installation disk. Or your restore CD from Dell.

If you can't find it there, you can download it HERE. Or may want to go for the IE version 8.

You didn't state what Operating System you are using. I'm going to pick Vista to use as an example,

If you have Windows XP, here is the driver, and the HP Essential software,

First download the driver, (IN DOING all of this, DO NOT have the printer plugged into the computer, and have the printer turned off)
Click on -> HP Deskjet Full Feature software/driver: USB cable

It will go to your desktop screen. Double-click on it. If a window comes up that states Extraction Wizard, go up to the top right, and click on -> Extract All Files. Follow the instructions. Look for a file that has -> Setup, or a file that ends in -> .exe

It may ask you if you want to restart your computer at this time.

HP Photosmart Essential Software for Photo Editing, Printing, and Sharing (Size is 6.19MB)
Follow the same instructions as I gave above.
