Question about Konica Minolta bizhub C250 All-In-One Laser Printer

This is a c253 problem with negative images

I have a c253 that produces a negative image when running prints from indesign. The copier is equipted with the ic-409 controller(fiery). i have put all the patches on the controller. No other images from any other program seem to have the problem. is there a setting in indesign that could cause this? The image seems to more prevelant when you have a solid color background and white lettering. It also seems to repeat itself.

i have also printed this same file on another c253 without the ic-409 and it printed fine

I am apologizing for not putting enough information on my original posting. I am using the correct drivers for the fiery. I also sent the job from command workstation and converted it to a pdf. I disconnected the fiery and ran the same print job through the emperon controller. The ghosting problem is still there just not as noticable. I said i had run the same job on another c253 and the ghosting was not there, but i was wrong. It was harder to see. I ran the same job on a c451,c10 and a c6500 and the ghosting was gone. Possibly a c253 problem??

It sounds like a driver issue to me. Are you sure you are using the correct driver?
Check the other computer that it printed fine from and compare settings/PPD.
You can also do a collect from both InDesigns and review the report file to see any differences.
There is a totally different driver that needs to be used if a Fiery is installed.

Also, you final line in the first posting sounds more like a "ghosting" issue and not an application issue.

I would deffinately identify the driver, you can download the driver files from the IC-409 by typing in the IP address in your browser and clicking on the "Webtools" logo. A pop-up will apear giving you access to the drivers and Command Workstation.
Have you tried opening and re-submittin g the file from Command Workstation?
You could also PDF the file and see if you get the same results, this will identify if it actually is an InDesign issue.

I have scanned several negative images to my computer easily but naively thought they'd be put in a full jpeg image so they would look like a proper photo image not a negative image. What do I need to do...

Once on the computer in negative format, only image manipulation softawares are capable of restoring to display impressions. For example, photo softwares are capable of restorations with anti colation fillin voids to achieve image regularity. However, transforming the negative to regular image makes jpeg formating very convenient thereafter.

I need 100% black high density prints from mac and InDesign/illustrator to make film positives for screen printing. What can I do or adjust to accomplish this? Thank you

Is it a text or an image or...?
If its just a jpeg you are putting through indesign, test its 100% K value using the dropper tool and hovering over the image.
If its text, or indesign generated, make sure the fill you use is 100% black, not 50% blue, 50% black which is often the default. Again, check the final using the dropper before you export the pdf.
I'm not sure exactly what your application is, but often for screenprinting, people duplicate the image....so for instance two acetates of the same image one on top of the other to maximise the density....a friend of a friend apparently even uses 4 acetates layered up to be absolutely certain.

Distorted image printing from InDesign to Xerox Phaser 8560

Have you tried a different driver? Most of those phaser printers have a PS driver loaded, See if there are PCL drvers for that product, and try that. I went on the Xerox.com site and they have both PS and PCL 6 and PCL 5 drivers, I believe one of those will help your problem.
Now that being said, If you are getting the stretching on other programs, then the problem is the drum motor encoder is getting contaminated with silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit. That will cause that problem, But since you are saying it is with one specific program, I suspect a different driver will correct the problem.

Won't print when text on the page

Export the page as a jpeg, 150 dpi, high quality, then delete all the items on that page in the indesign document (text & images), then import the jpeg to that page it will fit exactly.
This works most times!
