The lens on the laser is dusty. You need to pull the drive. Leave the tray open when you remove it. open up the case of the drive. find the tiny lens over the laser and very gently dust off the lens with a Q-tip. Re assemble and install the drive. If it still does not work you need to replace the drive. If you only burn cd's I have a working CD burner you can have free. Geokohler@gmail.com

How to burn mp3-cd disc to cd-rom

the best way to burn an Mp3 disk is to pick which Mp3 files you want to burn and put them into a folder (the 2 best ways to know if the files are Mp3 are either to mouse over the files or to right click on the file and click properties) then insert your chosen CD or DVD into your drive. when autoplay comes up tell it to take no action or cancel. then click on my computer. then open your Mp3 folder and press Ctrl + A. right click on any file and then click copy. go back into my computer and right click on your CD Drive (usually (D:) ) and click paste. then Click on the CD Drive and find the button that says burn wait for it to burn and you should be done.

Can't get hotos we downloaded from our camera to a CD to open on our computer

if the cd burning session was left open, the only machine that can read the cd is the one you initially burned the cd on, just put the cd in the original pc, open the cd burning software and ask it to "close" the sessio. (if you have nero 7 or newer, the program has a popup query for that)

I have just brought a new pack of blank CD's, i am

Its a common problem with CDs. Check that your CD drive can PLAY CDs. If so either the CD drives optical head is dirty or your CD pack are low quality. CDs damage real easy. Try putting another CD, another brand or you must use CD doctor-something like that. Did that help

I had that error befor I was burning with Memorex's 52x CD-R... when I switched to a Maxell's CD-R, the error was gone! And I left the burn speed at 'maximum'. It did it in about 4minutes. Good luck!

I CONVERT A FILM TO DVD BUT WHEN I AM ASKED TO BURN IT DOSE NOT WORK

There are some Burning Software that cannot support DVD to DVD burning but can support burning from Windows Media Video, MPG, AVI and other media to DVD burning.

Check if the CD you are using is a DVD type, if not a DVD type, just a CD, burn the film as CD DVD not DVD. I suggest try using new Version of NERO Burning.. it can support DVD to DVD burning.. TY

HOPE I CAN HELP

Copy files from old computer and transfer to new computer

Although Vista comes with an Easy File Transfer Wizard it is not compatible with Windows 98.

You will need a CD burning program such as Nero Burning Suite or Creative CD Writer or here is a link to a FREE one.

Cd burner

You may want to double-check the "error" message. Normally, when you insert a blank CD-R or CD-R/W you'll see a pop-up message that says something like, "you've inserted a blank CD. What program do you want to use to put something on it?" And then it will give a list of programs like Windows Media Player, Nero Burning ROM, Roxio, MyDVD, etc. The last two choices are "Open a writeable folder" and "Do nothing." The next to last, the open folder, option is the CD recording option for Windows. Once you've put copies of that data into the new window click on the "burn these files to disc" link on the left side or located under the File menu at the top of the window.

Now, if it truly is telling you that you have to insert a blank CD, then you may have one of two problems. Either the CD you're putting in is NOT actually blank or the drive is having problems recognizing the media. To test the first scenario, try the disc on another computer. If it's truly blank, then try uninstalling the CD burner from your Device Manager located in the Windows control panel. Double-click on the System icon > Hardware tab > Device Manager > click on the (+) symbol next to DVD/CD-ROM drives and then highlight your Sony CD burner > right-click and in the menu choose Uninstall. Reboot your system and let Windows redetect the drive and reinstall the drivers (You may want to have any install discs handy, just in case Windows asks for them, but not likely).

I hope that helps!
