Is the brush/roller spinning? If not, then the connection between the roller is broken, it is a two piece roller connected by a round black piece. there is a gear under there that can break and keep the roller from spinning together.

My S7210 vacuum has great suction at the hose but not the head the brushes spin fine.

There is a short internal hose that goes from brush head to the inspection port on rear of machine. Remove silver sole plate on bottom of brush head to get access to this hose and pull out what ever is blocking it.

My Bissell bagless vacuum does not seem to work anymore. It will start to with a suction and then instead of picking up the dirt, it appears to blow the dirt out almost in a cloud of dust and debris from...

this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.

I took the vacuum apart and cleaned it. Now there is an odor coming from the round filter and the vacuum is not picking anything up.

  • hi there
  • Does the odor smell like burnt rubber....if so you may have burned out the belt which is common. The filter can smell if you have pets and the machine will blow the odor back in to the room after the filter gets older.Check to see that the roller brush is spinning when it is turned on if not shut it off and try to turn it manually with your hands. If it turns very easily the belt gone if it is almost impossible to turn you need a new roller brush. You can replace the filter to help with the smell but if it is the belt you smell it will go away in time. Also make sure that you have the container on perfectly as if it is not it will not create a perfect seal and you will have very little suction. The other thing you can check is the hose to see if the suction is good through it. If the hose has good suction then the power head may be plugged with something and you will need to get a screwdriver and take the bottom plate off the same way as if you were changing the belt and then you can look for a blockage as well as access the belt and roller brush. I hope this was helpful to you ...good luck

No suction

You have a clog somewhere in the vacuum. Check the hose and the little trap door on the underneath side of sweeper.
Does the brush turn? If not, then the belt that drives the brush is broken. Replace the belt

Loss of suction bissell vacume

that is normal for the vacume to shut off if the motor overheats you must keep teh dirt cup clean and empty and all the filters clean, when you empty the dirt cup if you have a lot of pet hair take the hose off and make sure that it is clean as well, and do not try to pick up any of those cleaning wipes that will stop it up real quick

Pull the hose out of the holder, is there suction there. If not, then there is a clog in the hose. If there is suction, then check the dirt outlet by the brush roll. Also if the belt is slipping, it may appear to not have as much suction, belts will stretch after a short period, replace it. There should be a local shop near you that does warranty work for Dirt Devil, you have a years warranty on this, if you can't figure it out, I would take it in, they can tell by the serial number if it is in warranty.

Hoover eite rewind vacuum has blocked airflow, how do i fix?

Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then the blockage is in the hose, unhook the hose and dig out the debris, if hose isn't blocked, then clean out the filters, if they get clogged, then air can;t flow thru them and you won't have suction. If you have suction at the end of the hose, then it is clogged down in the nozzle asm. there is an inlet by the brush roll and it comes up to where the hose plugs into. Clean the clog out.
