Do you mean the sites in question time out and you get the famous Cannot be displayed screen, or do you get something odd? Is it possible you have a flash or script killer plug in running full steam ahead in firefox blocking everything. Have you done any activeX blocking (SpywareBlaster) tinkering?

How deep did you do the virus scan? I would do boot scans with Spybot and Super Spyware remover.

When in doubt, re-install FF when all else fails.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do I put the icon for Facebook on my computer?

If you are using Yahoo, you can click on the sort-of circular thing in the upper right hand corner and add Facebook to the icons - it will appear as a simple f in an icon. Theoretically Chrome can use the Yahoo Toolbar, but in reality it might last for an hour. With Firefox there is no problem because the Yahoo toolbar is an extension (add-on) of Firefox. I believe that Internet Explorer can use the Yahoo Toolbar but it already has too many toolbars already and I wouldn't take up even more useful space with an extra toolbar. On the other hand Internet Explorer just patched 42 holes in Internet Explorer and I cannot recommend Internet Explorer given how porous its security is. I certainly hope that you don't use it. Chrome is far and away the most secure browser with Firefox a distant second. IEx has always been a tragedy.

How do i lock the facebook site

The Internet is a vast web of inter-connected servers which may host inappropriate websites for certain people, especially children. The following instructions are for blocking malicious and unwanted websites in all versions of Internet Explorer. If you are using Firefox or other browsers, you may want to consider another, much more advanced way, to block websites using a host file: Use a Hosts File in Windows. Here is the easiest and most effective method to safely surf the Internet through IE.
1)Open Internet Explorer. In the Menubar click Tools ? Internet Options ? Content. In the Content Advisor box, click Enable.
2)Click the Approved Sites tab. Enter the address of the website.
Keep in mind - if you want to block the complete website put * in front. For example to block myspace completely, type *.
Click Never and then OK.

3)Click on the General tab and make sure to selectUsers can see websites that have no ratings
4)Enter a password you can remember easily with a hint.
5)Click OK to safely surf the Internet.
6)Microsoft uses the Family Online Safety Institute for the rating service. You can customize and see if that fits in your need.Consider installing web filtering software which allows or disallows websites based on their content.

If you feel that my answers have helped you getting solution to your problems then please give a vote.

Thanks.

I logged into facebook and it will not let me chat because it says that i have to upgrade my browser to internet explorer 9 how do i dothat

You can download the latest Internet Explorer from Microsoft's website.(http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/products/ie/home)

You can only upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 unless you have Windows 7 as your operating system.
Personally, I would suggest using a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Both of these browsers are more secure and faster than Internet Explorer and should allow you to chat on Facebook. Here are the respective links:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/
Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/landing_chrome.html?hl=en
I hope this helps!

When I try to login facebook my computer now says internet explorer cant display this page, why? and how can this be corrected

This may or may not work, but try https:// instead of http://. If you look at the address bar at the top of internet explorer you should see it. Another thing to try is either updating internet explorer, or using a different web browser. Personally I like using the Chrome web browser but there are other excellent options like Firefox. Firefox is a little more convenient. If neither using https://, updating your browser, or downloading a new one works, than depending on the network you are using Facebook might be being blocked. (if you are at a school or at work). I hope this helps!

Latest Internet Explorer: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/worldwide-sites.aspx If you have windows 7 than you do not need that link up there. Chrome browser: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/landing_chrome.html?hl=en Firefox browser: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

How do i unblock social websites like facebook and

Try alternative browser such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera

The easiest way to try if it’s possible bypass blocking of MySpace is to use an alternative web browser such as Mozilla Firefox and Opera. This hack will work if system administrators apply the contents URL filtering and blocking via Internet Explorer settings of Group Policy, which works only on Internet Explorer browsers. Thus, Firefox and Opera are not affected by the restrictions that applied via Group Policy and the access to MySpace or other blocked sites are granted. ( If this solution helpful to you please rate this)

I can't use any apps, or certain parts of facebook. I just get a white screen. Technical difficulties? Maintenance? What's up?

When experiencing difficulties with websites like Facebook, Myspace, etc where there is a lot of interaction with your computer sometimes it helps to clear your cache. To do this with Internet Explorer, go to Tools>>Safety>>Delete Browsing History. The next window to pop up will have a bunch of options for things you can delete. Select all of them. For Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools>>Clear Recent History and select all from the drop down list.
If this does not work I would make sure that your browser is up to date. For Firefox just go to Help>>Check for Updates and for Internet Explorer go to Tools>>Windows Update.

You also should make sure you have Flash Player downloaded from flash.com as well as javascript from java.com. You need both of these for many of the features on Facebook. Even if you have them, you should download them from the site to ensure you have the most current version.

Good Luck,

I have been using the same broswer for a long time & suddenly I could not get into Myspace.com, When trying to get into myspace.com I am told to upgrade my broswer now. How do I upgrade my broswer? ...

Hello.

If you are using Internet Explorer, here's the latest version:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/Internet-explorer/default.aspx

If you are using Firefox, here's the latest version:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html

But, I'm a little suspicious of the message that you encountered. It could be spyware or malware. So, first download and run from Spybot (http://www.spybot.com) and Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.com)

Hope this helps.

I can connect to the interent and see any page until i go to log onto a page like facebook, myspace, or other sites that requires being logged into. but if i do a system restore to an earlier date it works...

You are probably using Internet Explorer. I think maybe your security settings are set too tight.
Go to Tools>Internet Options>security and either set the security to default or lower them a little.
As an alternative, download Firefox and try logging on to those sites with that. You can get a copy of Firefox at www.mozilla.com
