Question about InFocus Multimedia Projectors

Projector Lamp seems to go out after a few seconds to 1 minute

I have a Proxima DP1200x. At this point, you turn it on and the image is projected on the screen, but after a 30 seconds to 1 minute, the image is gone and the light goes 'out'. It sounds like the projector is still running though (although it could just be off and cooling down).

I encounter like this problem before only i change bulb and clean the circuit board including the fan and do resoldering work's in the circuit board due cold solder and then its fine.I think this desame to your problem too.Cold solder issues - each component is soldered into small holes on the printed circuit board which in turn connects said component to the other components. Due to time, heat, use, some solder joints would be cracked or loose. It is possible that the cold solder is still minimally connected (hanging by a thread). When the unit turns on heat would be generated which would be sufficient to further loosen up the solder joint to the point it no longer provides electrical contact. Jarring the unit creates movement inside enough to re establish the contact, sometime good enough sometimes not enough.

Again, since the unit still operates (sometimes) then it is highly probable that there are no defective components. As you have surmised, it is possibly a loose connection, solder joints are "connections" except that molten soldering lead is used to attach/connect the component to the board, "loose connection" in this sense is equal to "cold solder".

Again on the assumption of no defective parts, then seeking a more experienced buddy for the soldering might be to your advantage. This is of course in addition to the possible electrical hazards when repairing....

Good luck:

I "seem" to have repaired an X350 with the same problem. You'll need a Torx T-8 wrench and a small pliers. Make sure you have a cup in which to place the screws. Remove the Torx screws from the top 1/2. There are 4 and one is shorter, so pay attention to which one that is. Also remove the top connector from the "Computer" connector. Remove the top. Remove the rubber pad from the tops and place it on the bottom where the "buttons" are (nothing sticks up, but they are drawn in). There are 3 fans on the right side. You can flip the pair up to look at them. Plug in the Proxima and turn it on. In my case all 3 fans worked. Blow out where you see dust. If you removed the large front fan, be sure the grommet for the 2 black wires is back in place. It goes in the U next to the fan compartment and the next compartment. The wires go through the hole in the middle. Place the rubber pad back on the top and press it into place. Put the top back on. If you are lucky like I am, it will suddenly work. Good luck!

Might be a problem with the video input. Try a different cable. If HDMI, you will need a really good cable for HDTV or 3D, and they are very expensive. My 12 foot cable cost $180.

Clean air filters. DO NOT BLOW INSIDE!!!
Take the filter out andust it out somwhere outside.
If it does not help, more likely there is fault inside.
Possibly power supply.

Hi,
Projectors are designed to be used with a lamp and will turn off when there isn't one present. You would have to purchase a new lamp to use the projector.
