My computer (Windows XP) does not link up with the camera. It just stays "connecting". Highly frustrating!

Borrowed a TZ5 from a friend of mine who lost the instllation CD. In USB mode, I choose "Connect to PC." The camera freezes up and the PC doesn't recognize any connection. I downloaded the only available driver or software from panasonic.com associated with the device, a bin file that I'm supposed to copy to it, the extension for which is unrecognizeable by Windows XP, or at least my installation. But if my PC doesn't recognize the device, how do I load it? How do I know it IS loaded?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 able to download to ipod

Not directly. You can download the pictures to a computer, then upload them to your iPod. If you connect the iPod and the camera or its memory card, you can transfer the pictures from one to the other without storing them on the computer.

My wife and I bought Panasonic DMC TZ5 for Christmas. When we try to download pics, we receive message USB port not recognized. We have tried another USB lead but still same problem, Is there anybody who...

Turn off CPU, Unplug Power cable, And all usb devices, let it sit for about 20mins. Plug it all back in. Turn on the CPU! Also make sure if your device requires "DRIVERS" or if you have a CD download and install that before anything.

Copy images from pc to Lumix TZ5 SD memory card?

yes i m sure it would work if you use a card reader instead of using the camera directly connected.. in that case your memory card will just work as the usb hard drive and you can load anything into it..

PC does not recognize Lumix DMC-TZ5 as USB device

I contacted Panasonic and here is what they told me to do and it worked.

"No additional drivers are needed as it runs off the USB drivers imbedded in
your Windows OS. That being said though, it is not that the USB ports on the
front of your computer are faulty, just that they are in fact a HUB and not
the port which is located on the back of the PC. Windows does not
traditionally like reading external Hard drives (your camera becomes one when
PC connect mode is selected) through a HUB. In this case I would still
strongly recommend connecting to the back of the PC."
