I have the same problem with my Goodman compressor. I removed the relay so the wires that control the relay on the compressor are open circuit. They are, and the fuse no longer blows. There must be something wrong with the relay. The resistance on the 24 volt coil seems a little low, but it is not a dead short. I thought the wires might be shorted, but removing the relay would not have fixed the blowing fuse if that was the problem.

Heat exchanger replacement for carrier weathermaker 8000

After 18 years of service, it is not cost effective to just replace the heat exchanger. Go the complete replacement route. There may be a utility company incentive to do it.

Thermostat doesn't activate unit

Put a volt meter on the red wire and the C terminal. You should get 24 volts AC. If not then the control transformer is shot

3 amp fuse blows when ac is switched on. Heater works fine.

There is a short in the low voltage wires somewhere for sure. The most common place is the low voltage on the outside unit, sometimes animals chew through them or they get cut with a weed eater. Just my experience. You basically have to trace it back all the way to the thermostat and heater. The only other thing is the contactor

I have a Carrier Weathermaker SX HVAC unit with a Honeywell thermostat. Even if the thermostat is turned "off", my fan keeps blowing!

Hello, usually this is a sign of a bad blower relay on the intergrated control board. The only option is to replace the control board.
