The electricity went out and all the meat in my freezer went bad.. How do I get the odor out? I'm planning on leaving my house for several weeks and don't know if I should leave it unplugged and open to ventilate or keep it on while gone.

Keep the meat in the freezer and keep the refrigerators plugged on and after u return u take it out clean and eat because if u open the dour will spread to ur whole room and when u return to ur home after several weeks u ll feel the odour still remaining in ur room so its better to close the door and plug it to on and go

Use several open boxes of Arm and Hammer baking soda. These will absorb the odor for sure.

Keep it on!

    The more boxes the better!

Be sure to open them up across the top for better efficiency.

Very bad smell coming from my Samsung refrigerator

most refrigerators have a small drainage hole leading from the inside rear of the compartment to an overflow container behind the unit, pull the unit away from the wall and check if the liquid in the container has become stagnant, if so simply clean it out and run a small amount of bleach down the hole to disinfect the tube.
hope this helps.

Freezer got unplugged, meat spoiled, freezer cleaned, smell remains. What can we do to get rid of smell?

I have found that the best cleaners for removing left over odors are citrus based cleaners. They help to neutralize odors and prevent re-occurrence. You could also use a diluted bleach as well to sanitize the inside. Make sure it is not too potent or the bleach odor will overcome the bad odor in annoyance.
Good luck!!

Foul fish smell emanating from the freezer

Well an old remedy is to put a box of opened arm and hammer baking soda in the freezer and fridge to keep it from having bad odors. If that doesn't work you can try some charcoal it is perfect for absorbing odor, just don't use the matchlight kind or it will smell like lighter fluid.

What is the proper way to store an empty chest (deep) freezer for several months?

I would suggest wadding up about enough newspapers , to completely cover the bottom of the freezer . The ink in the newspaper , will absorb any odor that is in the freezer or can get in , while being stored . This is also , the only way known in the area , to remove fish , or bad meat odor . Takes a little more newspaper for that though .

Odor in refrigerator caused by defrosted meats in freezer which sat for 3 weeks

Here's what I would do: take it outside, if it's not already, open the doors, spray the entire interior with oven cleaner and allow it to dry. Then I would hose out the oven cleaner, it should take remaining matter and the stink with it.
