There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Unfortunately you have to reformat your mp3 player. This is how you do it and it will erase all data you have on there. You have to start over with loading the music etc...

1. Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu.
2. Locate the Removable Disk (X:) or Player (X:) icon that is associated
with the player. (X: equals the drive letter assigned to the ILO player.)
3. Right-click the Removable Disk (X:) or Player (X:) icon.
4. Click Format….
Reformatting your ILO player will result in the deletion of all tracks and
settings on the ILO player.
5. If you are sure you want to reformat your player, click Start.

You might try this, but before you do see if there is a small "pin" hole around the outside of the case to re-set the operating system.

If not and/or the system won't reset, go to
http://uiss.max.io/downloads.html
and download the zip file, install it on your computer and run the RAVE set-up.

Format

Well this message must be saying to format your mp3 player because one or more boot files has corrupted and it can't find them.

Try formatting and it should fix this:

First you go to "Start" - "My Computer" - Now look for something called "Removable Disk" - That is your MP3 Player - Now right-click on it then click "Format" - Now allow format to complete and this should have fixed the problem.

Good luck. Hope my solution was helpful in someway.

You should backup your data and format the player. Plug her in, copy your music onto your computer, then format it by right clicking the drive in My Computer, then going to Format, then clicking Start. After it's finished, copy your music back over to the player and it should be sorted.
