Re-Insert the casette problem

No matter what I try, i keep getting the darn...re-insert the cassette message can you please help me too.
Thanks,
marc I have the same problem. It only developed after using tapes other than the original. The non original tapes were accepted for a while, then for no known reason I keep getting the 'reinsert cassette' message.
When I go back to the original tape I have no problem.
This is a major product fault as the manual says it will accept any standard digital 8 tape.

Sony is notorious for brand specific the same can be said for their mavica series cameras that can use any mini-disc. unfortunately the best solution is to stay with sony tapes

How do i get the casette out of the canon mv700i ? i see a push button on the casette but it doesnt work.

You may need to have a charged battery pack attached to the camcorder (or use the mains power lead, if applicable), so that the camcorder has power to open the cassette door. You may even need to turn the camcorder on. These are safety refinements so that the eject button does not accidentally open the door, leading to possible loss of cassette or damage to the camcorder itself.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated but they can usually be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

Will not rewind

Sony is pretty secretive about the :23 code. It can't be found anywhere. However, to service the C:31 code, Sony recommends you do the following:

  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  3. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  4. Turn on the camcorder.
  5. If the error message appears, service may be required.

If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service.

Had the same problem and took the battery out of the camera to reset. Worked fine after that.

Remove cassette

Try inserting a cleaning cassette. There may be something on you video heads and your camera is protecting itself from damage. If it wont let you play the cleaning cassette consider using some compressed air via a can of "blow-off" or similiar product. If that doesn't change anything send it in for repair.
