A hardware problem
A problem in the Flex Cable of your mobile hardware
Your mobile needs to be repaired, and changing the FLEX CABLE inside of your mobile
It seems that some early batches of this phone are more prone to have this issue. It's a hardware problem. Some posts around state that it might be caused by usage of the wired headset. Motorola is aware of this problem, and they seem to be either fixing faulty phones or replacing them for new ones. So, you must send yours to be repaired, under warranty. Contact either the seller you bought your phone from, or Motorola, for further details
Anyway, a possible workaround for this issue is to use a bluetooth headset for phone calls.
Really hope you are able to have your phone fully funcioning soon. This phone is pretty amazing!
First of all make sure the volume is high. Try talking in speakerphone mode. If you can hear in speaker phone mode, then your ear piece might be not working.
