Does this happen to all computers? wired and wireless?
because there is a possibility that your computer is shutting off your network card (wired or wireless) if not in use for Power Save Mode.

check the power save option of your card, and if it possible, try to get the latest (updated) driver from the card or the computer manufacturer.

Have lost connectivity - computer appears to be connected - icons are indicating that but my wireless is not working - have unplugged everything and rebooted several times - have also pressed the reset...

Try right-clicking on the icon in system tray and choose repair option. This will shut it down and it should restart it as well. I've had the same thing happen to me several times and doing this Almost Always does the trick. It re-news your network & IP address which needs to be done occassionally. Hope this was helpful. Let me know. Rate this. Thanks!

I have been using my DI-524 for about two years now without problems. I went away on vacation, left my computer and routers running and now when I get home I cannot connect nor see the wireless connection...

When you say your rebooted the modem and router, do you mean you power cycled them both? If you're unfamiliar with power cycling, this the technique:
1) Unplug your main Cable or DSL line from your modem.
2) Unplug the power from the modem.
3) Unplug the power from the router.
4) Wait about 20 seconds.
5) Plug the Cable or DSL line into the modem.
6) Plug the power into the modem.
7) Plug the power into the router.

Make sure that all computers are shut down and completely off. After you have power cycled, reboot the computer(s). If you still do not see the SSID (the name of the network), then someone probably hacked into your router and changed the password. Here's how to overcome that:

1) Unplug the power from the router.
2) Press and hold the Reset button on the router for at least 30 seconds.

3) Plug the power into the router.
4) Open an internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.).
5) Type in the IP address of your router. For this router the IP address should be 192.168.0.1
6) You should be at a login window. The User Name is admin and leave the password blank.
7) You should now be in your router's configuration options. You should enable the highest security possible, then change the default User Name and Password to something secure, with letters and numbers.

My information for you router came from this link:

Wirless networking

The red line through the icon indicates that that network adapter is disabled in the device manager. (You can enable it by right clicking My computer, choose Manage>device manager. But the realtek is used for your ethernet cable connection. The 1394 connections are network adapters used for network connections to printers, etc. probably left over from your work setting, and can be disabled for the moment.
You don't mention what OS you're using, but I'll guess XP, and provide another link for vista just in case....
In any event, it's going to be necessary for you to reconfigure your network connection to the router/gateway you're using at home to connect to your ISP. Here's a general wireless networking troubleshooter, in the event that you've already covered the basics. And here and here are articles/links that will give you more advanced guidance. (Also here.)
But here and here are links to basics: to help you set up and maintain a network in xp, and here's an alternative for vista.
Another excellent resource to help you answer questions and troubleshoot the connection is this site, which has specifics that deal with many common ISPs.
In the end, you may find the easiest thing to do is start at the beginning by setting up a new home network and working through each step to establish a new connection.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

I lost wireless internet when i connect internet from my modem to computer it works but the router shows no internet the computer picks up the router and the computer says it is connected wirless but not

Did you at one time have internet? Another thing that it could be is that your modem is going out. I would test the modem and see if it works, then connect to then try connecting it back to the router and restarting both your modem and router. And finally it may be actually be disconnected in the setup so look at your setup on the setup screen by opening internet explorer and typing 192.168.1.1 then configure your router's connection one more time.

Very slow, or no connection to internet, on wired computer, not wireless one

Yes, it would be best to reconfigure it. Try the following but note.. resetting the router will erase all previously given settings.

First, reset the router - when the unit is on, press the reset button (using a paper clip) for 20 seconds then let go of the button. Once the WLAN light is solid, it means that router has rebooted.

Go to a computer wired to the router and open Internet Explorer, enter http://192.168.0.1 on the address bar. Enter admin for the username and leave the password blank.

Once you're in the Dlink page, this is where you can configure your Internet and Wireless settings again. Just run through the setup process (as if you just got the device out it's box).

Goodluck!

Cannot connect to internet through DI-524

After you've rebooted your wireless router...make sure you reboot the cable-company (or DSL) modem while the router is connected to it and on. The modem seems to recognize the router properly only in this way.

Simply unplug the power to the cable-modem and plug it in again.
If the cable-modem has a battery back-up you'll want to remove that as well.
