Panasonic bluray suddenly says can't read disc, disc incompatible. It does play standard dvds and my photos and ipod..Sometimes when pressing "play" it turns on the player and the tv and the disc stars ok. It all seems hit and miss.I've tried to update the firmware with a disc of the latest revision but when part way thro the update it turned the player offf without ejecting the disc and now I can't tell what revision it is as the screen says try later.

Is there another way of loading the firmware? On mine you can do it via disk and/or internet connection.

SOURCE: My DVD player wont read a disc

There are several things you can do to try and solve your problem: Make sure that the DVDs you try to play are encoded for the right region. Make sure that the transportation lock (usually a plastic screw on the bottom of the unit), is not engaged. Turn off player with disc inserted, unplug temporarily from wall outlet, plug back in and turn back on.

Sound like the firmware needs to be updated for the newer encryption schemes had the same problem with my bd-hp21u with a couple of new bd discs. You will need a 1gb or smaller USB drive to put the updated firmware on which Sharp doesen't tell you. The rest is in the manual or available from sharp support.

Blu-ray player is up to date with firmware but won't read blu-ray dvds.

There's no such thing as a 'BluRay DVD'. There are BluRay discs, and there are DVDs. Are you saying it doesn't read anything at all?

Since a week ago, the player doen't want to read bluray discs. It reads the dvds but not the bluray discs.

The DVDs use red light, and the blue rays use blue light, 2 systems. Have you tried a cleaning disc?

Panasonic uj141el not reading blank bd disks

Bluray discs and DVD discs are encoded differently. Unfortunately you will need to get standard DVD and not bluray.

You have 2 options really...

1) You can purchase blank DVDs:

2) You can purchase a bluray drive:

I have a BDT100 Panasonic Bluray player that won't play bluray discs! Normal discs work perfectly. Any suggestions?

there are two lasers inside a blueray one for normal dvds and cd's and the other for blue ray films, either the laser lense is dirty or it has burnt itself out and will need replacing , if a clean doesnt get it working

When trying to play a computer generated DVD +R DL, I get a message that says this type of disc cannont be played. please insert a different disc

The disc is probably an incompatible format for this model player. Even if the disc is finalised in your PC, or in a DVD recorder, this player may still be unable to read it. Some DVD recorder/players do not recognise DVD+R (or +R DL) media, while others won't recognise +/-RW discs (except CD-RW); this is a model limitation - not a fault with either your player, the PC burning software or the discs themselves.

Nothing can be done to fix this except purchasing a model which accepts multimedia (+R/DVD-RAM etc). The question is, does your player play ANY normal DVDs? I am guessing your player will accept DVD-R DL discs just fine since this is standard as well as proper shop-bought movies.

I have one of the older model playstation 3 consoles, it plays ps2 games as well. lately it's been having a hard time reading the ps3 discs. sometimes I have to take the disc out and put back in about ten...

The PS3 disk and the Bluray disk require more intensity from the laser or, depending which model you own, has a seperate lens to read them all together. PS2 games are equivilant to DVDs and then you have CDs at the bottom. Check out "how to clean my Bluray lens" on google. Might even check youtube. All you need is alcohol and q-tips. Don't press down too hard when cleaning and don't worry, the alcohol dries very quickly. Clean it with alchol then cleans again with dry q-tip. very easy.

NOTE: when removing the Bluray drive from the board, the ribbon clips "flip up" and DO NOT "pull out" like most PCs (computers) do....if you are familiar.
