Question about 2wire Wireless-G 802.11g ADSL Gateway

Several connection problems

With this modem I have connection issues. I purchase this modem from At&T in March. I am sure it is up to date. However, on my laptop I loose connections for about 15 secs. then it's ok. The big issue is, it's happening quite often. Also on my desktop as well which shares this modem. Help please, I can't take much more, or do you know of another modem that doesn't have this constant issue?

    1. Have you installed the phone filters that came with the modem?
    2. Do you have problems when you turn on the modem or the laptop?

    • if its the modem, its normal. as it is doing POST (power on self test)

    • if its the laptop, try moving closer to the modem. try this:go to your desktop, right-click my computer, click properties. Then click on the hardware tab, then on Device manager. Here you will see your hardware. click the plus sign for Network Adapters. double click your wireless adapter (it usually says wireless or G)

then click on advanced or properties (depends)

set the "Power" option to max.
    click OK.
You should now have greater range.
    Hope this helps

I bought a lenovo ideapad z560 for my sister in march and she tells me that several keys in the keyboard stop working. Is that a software problem? or a hardware? what can be done?

Welcome to Fixya

It could be software problem. Try to restore the computer back to the factory state. Turn off the computer then press the small button located beside the power button then follow to on-screen instruction to restore it from initial state. By doing this, we will now clear any software issue in the computer since it will be restored from the date it was purchased. If same thing will happen after restoreation then you need to send in the computer to depot repair depatment for keyboard replacement. I believe the computer is still under warranty. You may call 18774536686 then press option 2 for hardware support/repair.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Date shown as 27 March and 'Auto' will not show correct date even after changing manually

I am not sure but I think this model has no DVB-T tuner. Since all analog TV sources are gone, there is no way it can set the current date automatically.
You should turn date to manual and set it properly.

Hope this solves the issue!

Hello, my d-link DIR615 type D1 disconnects himself usely about 3-4 times a day. With a reboot from the d-link it works again after a while. Can this problem be in the DNS? or can you please tell me what...

I had a similar problem in the past. I would suggest the following solutions:

1) Download the latest drivers for the D-Link DIR-625 or D-615 Router at the manufacturer's website DIR-625: http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=501
DIR-615: http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=565
-Make sure to download the correct drivers for your operating system (XP, Vista, Windows 7).

2) Download the latest firmware for the D-Link DIR-625 or DIR-615. It is available through the same listed websites.
Note: Make sure to use direct connection for firmware upgrades so that it upgrades securely without errors.

3) Make sure the modem is up to date. If it's your modem, then upgrade drivers and firmware by googling the appropriate model number and brand of the modem.

4) If it is not your modem, you can still upgrade the drivers and firmware. Further assistance should be available through your ISP (Comcast, Verizon).

5) Sometimes a connection may be disconnecting because the firmware for the connection via FiOS/DSL may not be upgraded in the infrastructure outside your house. To solve this issue, call up your ISP and tell him that you are disconnecting several times a day and ask if firmware is up to date.

6) It may be a faulty modem. If so, call up your ISP and they should replace it for free (generally).

7) Fault router may entail customer support at D-Link. Just contact through email and check your warranty. They may help you even if the product is out of warranty (happened to me).

see if there's an electrical component that may be to close to the router that may be causing the signal to be ruined. and try to set the devices further apart.

does it connect ok when you're connected with a wire (physically) to the router?

have you upgrade the firmware? the issue may be firmware related so it may be worth it to attemp to updated the firmware.. see here

good luck!

Wireless connection problem

Hi,
if you are sure you didn't changed the password on the wifi router and it stopped working itself try restoring the system to the date it was working fine, but little caution all the settings/ programs installed after the restore date will be lost

Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
choose the date ie. bold and on which it was working fine and follow instructions

if you think the info given by me was helpful please do rate me

Modem drops connection. Must disconnect and reconnect to restore

There are plenty of aftermarket Cable Modems for sale at most major retailers (Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc..)

I would go and buy a decent one of these and try it out to really test to see if the modem is indeed the issue here. If the new one works and doesn't drop the connection anymore then problem solved. If however the new one does do the same thing I would check for proper venting area (make sure you don't have anything on top of or burying your modem) first. If that's fine then it could possibly be issues with your actual line and in that case you'll need to harass the cable company until they actually send someone to test your lines.

Modem not Working

This error cause:
  1. Incorrect Windows connection settings.
  2. An incorrectly configured modem.
  3. A corrupt dialer.
  4. Out of date modem firmware.
But before trying anything chech your modem is ok and driver is installed correctly.

Click here, there is a detail help how to fix your problem.

Please post your feed-back.
