Question about Carrier 38BRC048 Air Conditioner

Inside fan wont run

About a week ago I noticed that the blower in the basement unit for my air conditioner was going off and on about every 10 seconds. It then stopped all together. The outside portion of the unit will still run. But without the blower it freezes up. I need to figure out why the blower isnt running.

The unit squeaks whenever turned on, no matter what level the fan is blowing (Lo, Med, or Hi). Started about a week and a half ago.

A rhythmic squeak sounds like either a fan motor bearing going bad or just vibration from the unit running thats wiggling something loose inside the unit.

I have a Armstrong concept 10 central air unit. Everything outside seems to work bit I don't have cold air coming out. Its just basement cool

Its possible you have an airflow issue such as a dirty evaporator coil or dirty blower wheel/fan. Or the blower motor has slowed for some reason. Sometimes the plenum or ductwork is improperly installed or sized an will not create static pressure. That's harder to explain.

AC unit wont work, inside coils are hissing but outside unit not turning on.

If thisnis a central air conditioner and there is hissing at the indoor coil then the compressor is running, it is possible that both fans are not running. The indoor motor may not run if the control board is bad, capacitor is bad or the motor itself is bad. The outdoor fan may have a bad capacitor or the motor itself is bad

Hi, just replaced the capacitor thinking that would solve the problem but it appears it did not. The motor outside would kick on the unit inside would kick on but the blower motor inside works sometimes...

Turn off the power to the air handler(indoor unit). Remove the access panel. From the motor, trace the wires back to the fan relay. One wire will probably trace back to the incoming power terminal. The other is the fan relay. It could be intermittent thermostat signal to the relay or a bad relay.
To verify if the fan motor is good, you can remove the one wire from the relay and re-attach it to the other side of the incoming power terminal. If it runs OK there, replace the relay. If it does not run, replace the blower motor.
