Try entering Recovery Mode and choose "Restore Default Settings".
If that doesn't help, you may have an HDMI port failure - which will require returning the unit to Sony or sending it to a third-party PS3 repair shop.
You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.
first if you do not have one you will need an HDMI cable, depending where you get it, it can cost you anywhere from $15-$165 it doesnt matter which one you get they all work, now if you dont got one an hdtv is next with a hdmi hookup,
easy way, have your ps3 on, then plig hdmi to back of ps3, then go to the sisplay settings and change it from AV component to HDMI and there you go.
harder way, ps3 off, hdmi in, av component not plugged in, reset ps3 till you get the picture on your HDTV
did you move the ps3 while it was on. If you did the reset for AV should repair both the AV problem and your HDMI as well. Shoot me a message back if it works or doesn't.
Well you can just use the hdmi cable if you're going both audio and video in to your tv. With your hdmi cable you get the best quality for both.
But in anycase, it seems that your PS3 is set up to output video via HDMI cable. To reset our video output settings, simply power down your PS3 (turned off) and hold down the power button until you hear the second beep. (around 5-10 secs) Power back up and hopefully you'll have video via your av cable. Hope this helps.
Just plug the AV cable in as normal. The PS3 auto-detects the AV cable. Turn your PS3 on first, then your TV. Change the channel on your TV to your AV channel (YPBPR) and it should come on fine.
There are PS3-components cables available out there (the Red/Green/Blue one) you can use to connect your PS3 to your TV and still get HDTV on your TV system. You should be able to get it where you bought your Playstation. Got one for 39.99$ CAN
the best cable to use is an hdmi cable, so long as the tv has hdmi sockets. you shouldn't pay more than 20 pound or 40 dollars for a good one. hope this helps
unless there is a switch on the ps3 itself to change to normal tv, you may have to reconnect the ps3 via HDMI and change the screen resolution back to 480p or change the settings in the setup from hdmi to av.
