Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer
I replaced the magenta ink tank and got the message that the cartridge was no recognized so bought another new one, CANON OEM, and it still says U043 The following ink tank cannot be recognized I cannot scan either with it locked up like this and the stop/reset button does nothing when I hold it down for several seconds. HELP :( Canon MP600. Every time I replace an ink tank I get the message "ink tank cannot be rcognized." Usually after several tries it is resolved. However, I recently replaced the Cyan ink tank and the printer will not recognize it under any circumstances. I cannot get out of this error message. My Canon MP600 (less than a year since purchase) is now out of service. the black ink cartridge was replaced by a new one but the color one is still empty.i get this error even if i select black only option from preferences The printer will not do anything since it does not recognize the magenta ink tank, which has no evidence of any malfunction. In fact, initially when the ink tank is inserted, it lights up, signifying the printer is ready to print - then when the cover is closed, the printer flashes the ERROR - U150 - ink tank cannot be recognized. This is a canon brand ink tank in a 4 month old printer.
I had the same problem. My mp630 is also only 4 months old. I replaced all colour ink cartrdiges(inc black), but was only able to release the function for detecting the ink levels for magenta and cyan. Yellow and black then started giving error message U043, with them alternating between working, but never working at the same time. Getting them all clicked in with the lights glowing red does not solve the problem, as once the printer cover is closed, the same error message turns up. The only thing that worked for me is moving the chip slightly out of alignment, by pushing the sliding chip holder, and I only had to do this twice before they all started working and the printer was unlocked.

The best way is ask your vendor to rectify the problem since it is under warranty

Same problem - two solutions I found helped me work out mine. One said contacts needed to be cleaned and it worked to use a Q-tip and alcohol or just click it in position several times until it recognizes the cartridge - this may work. Another said that they got it to work by installing a brand new cartridge - cool, but I have one full of ink it won't recognize. So I pulled the little circuit board off a used cartridge (like you need to do with some refills) and put it on the cartridge that it wouldn't recogrnize - works great. Still haven't figured out how to get it to acknowledge ink levels though. Canon really should be more consumer friendly since these problems seem to be intended to compel the use of proprietary cartridges.
