I have a walkman with no volume. The down volume worked, but the up volume stopped working. After pressing the volume rocker switch, I eventually ended up with a perfectly functional player with zero volume. I pried off the volume control rocker plastic, and there are tiny two buttons underneath each side of the rocker. The Up volume button appears stuck in the 'pushed in' position or the switch is broken. If I can open the case and switch the volume up, I can cover the volume control, and use an external volume control (on my headset) to cut the volume down. (or I can just buy a new one (bigger) and sync all my audio to a computer and then to the new one.

Connect the player to power and pc with the device manager running. Reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch, and as soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. The philips device manager should come up now and recommend a repair, let it do so.

You have a round button on your Barbie Girls Mp3 player. Right? Well, you have a round button in the middle of the circle that is Pause. On the right and left hand side is the back and forwards buttons. The up and down buttons on it is the volume control. Up is louder. Down is softer. Hope that helped you, deary.

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

My philips gogear wont turn on

Disconnect the GoGear from the computer
Reset it first (pinhole in back - safety pins work best), even if nothing happens - just to be on the safe side
Nothing will happen still, but we are OK
Make sure the power is off, and hold in the volume + button, reconnect the GoGear to the computer while holding in the volume + button, and continue holding volume + until a window pops us saying Found New Hardware Wizard
Go through the Found New Hardware Wizard, and the GoGear should be working again - the player will be revived

Write me back if this fails to resolve the problem.

Loss of sound

Try the following:
1) Check your headsets. Use another player to test it. If it works then the problem is within your MP3 Player.
2) Adjust the volume. If it does not work...
3) Reset your MP3 player by pressing the reset button found below the volume buttons.
4) Unlock the hold switch.

Make sure you are using the original USB cable that came supplied with the GoGear, and then try the volume + method again. If the volume + method doesn't work, then there is a problem with the USB port recognziing the device being plugged in - or, the player was physically damaged.

MyMusix's PD-6030:
If you have a Windows-based computer,
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

If that fails,
Check the battery polarity. (+ and - must be in correct psoition)
Set the hold button to the unlock position.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes ,format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format
If that fails,
go to www.mymusix.com to see if the latest software update will correct the problem
