If alternate configuration does not work. what is error mesage if any?
check to see if recovery partition and use, (caution this will erase all files)
if not find recovery disc and when you get to reinstall. ONLy use the repair function first.if this does not work, put in cd again this time go to instal part but only reapir again then, repair this will preserve your data. the only thing requriered is you product key.
if this does not work you will have to do a full install and will wpe your data.

OK well ya have to "get" the file(s) and reinstall them where needed... maybe ya install files are on the hard drive ? check.. else use another PC and Down Load what ya need... OR Try starting in "Safe Mode" press F8 at boot up time.. and select "Last Know Good Configuration" & see if that helps... else ya just gonna have to get a CD/DVD from somewhere and use that to fix.

CDROM CANNOT READ MY ZUMA DELUXE CD. ERROR IS UNKNOW FILE TYPE.

I would say that windows is missing the codecs to play your cd. You can get the codecs by running windows update by right clicking on computer and then properties. and then click on the windows update and click get updates now.

An easier solution would be to download vlc player. It will play any file and cd or dvd. just google for vlc media player and download it and open the cd with VLC

I put this system in my truck and the dvd player wont work on it

Please try to download the codecs and also try with the un-installing the DVD drive from the device manager.

Codecs weblink : http://www.free-codecs.com/K_lite_codec_pack_download.htm

Copy and paste this web link in the address bar.

Locate " Download [ K-Lite Codec Pack 5.6.1 FULL ] " from the list and click on it to start downloading the codecs. Once the download is complete, please double click on the downloaded file to install.

To uninstall and re-install the CD/DVD drive, please follow the below steps :

For Windows XP :

Click start >> Run >> type devmgmt.msc in the text field and click OK.

This will open the device manager window.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 :

Click Start >> type devmgmt.msc in the start search field and hit enter key on the keyboard.

This will open the device manager window.

You will see a list of devices in the device manager window.

Click on + sign beside the CD/DVD ROM listed there. This will open the name of the device listed there. Right click on the device name listed there and click uninstall from the dropdown list.

This will disappear the device name from there.

To re-install the CD/DVD ROM drive :

Click on Action tab from the top of device manager window. Click Scsn for hardware changes from there.

This will re-install the CD/DVD drive in the device manager.

Try playing DVD's and check for the issue.....

I RUN A ANTIWARE PROGRAM ON MY COMPAQ NOW IT WONT RESTART IT STALLS AT AWAITING START

Windows Start-up Errors
Step one, you need a Windows XP CD. If you only have a recovery disk set like the ones from HP or Compaq they will not do what you need done. Under normal circumstances however, you can use a Dell disk because the Operating system is on a stand-alone disk. All retail versions are also acceptable as well as upgrade disks. For a rule of thumb, if the disk has the Microsoft hologram it should work. You can order a boot up floppy disk from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994 with this file, if you know how, you can use “ImageBurn” to burn the file into an ISO file which can be burned to a disk. Now make sure your computer boots to the cd rom first. If you know how to do this skip on down, if you don’t, while the computer is first starting up and you see the manufacturers splash screen, tap F12 (some computers it’s F9, others it may be another key, you may have to watch and see if the computer lists the key strokes for getting to the boot menu. If you still cannot find it, boot into the BIOS settings and change your boot order there. Save your settings and exit, the computer will now seek the cd rom as its boot source first.
Place your Windows disk in the computer and start it up. When you see the test at the top of the page “Press Any Key To Boot From CD” Just hit the space bar to activate. The next screen you will see will most likely be a Windows setup screen, when you see this press the “R” key to get to the recovery console. It will get there, it may take a little time, patience. Once it loads you will be given a choice of Windows installations, there should only be one, if there are more, always pick number one. It may ask for an administrators password, if you have not set this particular password, then just leave it blank and press enter. The next prompt you see is:
C:\Windows>
You need to type the following:
cd \
hit enter. Pay close attention to the spacing between the characters. There is a space between the character “d” and the “\”
You are now at the ROOT of the drive, this is where basic commands can be given and changed. You should now see the following:
C:\>
Now type the following:
CHKDSK /R
Hit the enter key.
The chkdsk /r command also includes the P command and will also look for lost recoverable information in bad sectors.
There are occasions depending on how corrupt the system is, that this process could take several hours, so be patient with it.
Now, after chkdsk has run type the following:
FIXBOOT
Hit the enter key.
It may prompt you with a warning, that’s ok, just continue. When fixboot has finished, type: EXIT hit enter and windows will reboot. When the system reboots, tap the F8 key during this time and you will see the multi-boot menu come up. Scroll to the title “Last Know Good Configuration” and hit the enter key. If you were having some simple drive errors this should have fixed them.

My VX924 Green Led Blinks until fully booted to windows

ok if what im understanding is you tried on another computer and it worked great
the monitor is not your problem the problem lies with your video card
the video card could be outdated
the video card could need updated software
the video is haveing a conflict with another IrQ on *********** board this is common in computers haveing conflicts
now if your not use to computers i would suggest to take it down to nears computer tech. store and have them set your IrQ for you this can get confusing
ask them if they can show you a walk threw on how to set the IrQ incase this happens again say if you do a restore on your comp i know you dont want to pay for it again to have them fix it
or you can call "GeekSquad" they can come to your home and fix it for you and show you a walk threw this might be better for u
i hope this helped you alot
