SOURCE: spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

Gw712, clothes seem to be not spun properly and still fairly damp when the cycle is finished. they used to be fairly dry before

try cleaning your filter in washing machine,if this dosent fix problem, sounds like you need a water pump,i have had a front loader for 8 years now and had the same problem, with me finding the filter with alot of cloths lint, and other things it was stopping the water pump from pumping out water, try cleaning first and checking water outlet hose were water is pumed out might be blocked with a coin, these few steps before you spend money on water pump.
hope this helps you.

Things are not drying on a regular cycle like they use to.

Most likely cause is a partially blocked waste water filter. If the filter is blocked, the water wont drain away as well as it should, so the clothes are wetter at the start of the dry cycle than they should be. Ergo, they end up wetter at the end of the dry cycle. Find and clean your filter, this will probably fix the issue. If it doesn't then you may have a problem with the heating element on the dryer. The fact that you say they are not drying like they used to suggests that they are drying to some extent, heater elements tend to either work or fail, rayther than nnot work well, so if you have some drying, but its not as good as it should be, I would put my money on a blocked filter.

Maytag washer won't shift to rapid spin dry (only slow back & forth)

Hi Jim, you issue could be caused by a couple either one of a of the following,
1) Draining problem, cant empty the water from the machine within the prescribed time limit - preventing the spin programme to commence. check pump filter is clear and waste water is pumping from the end of the waste hose, the hose itself could be blocked with limescale and detergent residue.
2) Unbalanced load, most machines wont spin 1 item, its a safety thing, if a machine spins with one heavy item it puts the drum out of balance resulting in excessive drum movement possibly damaging the inside of the machine and put indue stress on the bearings. Try putting it on a spin cycle with no clothes in

Unbalanced load detection can also be caused by a faulty motor tacho, this usaually positioned at the rear of the motor, this sends an electrical signal to the programmer telling when it is 'Safe' to spin. There also the posibility that the programmer is not reading the tacho signal or misinterpriting it.

Clothes still wet aftre drying cycle over

It sounds as if the wash cycle isn't terminated by pumping the rinse water out and spinning to rid the clothing of most of the water.
Most dryers sense moisture but I think they all will have a maximum run-time to prevent possible fires if the programmer fails to shut them down at the end of the drying cycle.
I would watch the machine and when it started the drying cycle, I would shut it off and check for surplus water that hadn't been pumped out as it should have been.
