Question about Miele Vacuums

1 Answer

I have a Miele s251i vacuum that was working just fine until I umplugged it (while running) and re-plugged it in at a closer socket. When I replugged it, it started for a second and then stopped. Will not start now whether we use the on/off switch or not...suggestions? Would also like to know how to disassemble the unit so I could check out the wiring with a multitester..thanks

I just had exactly the same problem. Opened the vac, checked the circuit next to the motor and it can be clearly seen that the Triac burned thru the PCB. Will replace it and check again. Vac bought long ago, works extremely well.

Stopped working while vacuuming...less than 2 years old???

Hi, It's probably the cord. I do wish Mieles were more durable given what they cost. I clean a home 3x per week with a Miele and tend to go further than i should before i unplug and find a closer outlet to plug into. So, it's the tugging on the cord that killed it. I had to take it to a Miele certified repair shop and they replaced the cord itself, which of course had a new plug on it. It was around 60 bucks. The owner didn't speak great English and I don't know Spanish so i'm unsure where the prob was: the spot where the cord attached to the vac, or the plug. In any case, I don't tug on the vac anymore....owner's were unhappy. Lesson learned.

Miele vacuum powerhead

My power head failed due to the handle switch. It comes apart with the Phillips screw under the vacuum kill slider. Check for continuity across the switch contact solder points.

My vacuum (miele s251i) will not turn on. I just changed the filters and bag. Just wondering if I have put the top filter in the wrong spot. Does it go under the black flip-up bit or on top of it? I do not...

Hello Miller_04,
Regardless of how the filter is put in the vacuum cleaner should turn on. Really is no way to put the filter wrong in these. I have a white star myself.

You can contact Miele Vacuum support and they can further troubleshoot or recommend a vacuum shop in your area to send it to for repairs

Meile s251i won't turn on

Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.

Will not turn on

Your problem is probably a bad male cord end or the there is a problem with the cord winder. It might need a spacer.
