Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop
I lost my hard drive after running Norton Disk Dr with the "Automatically Fix Problems" box checked. After running it, my computer wouldn't recognize that I had a hard drive anymore. Symantec said I must have a corrupted boot sector. Dell couldn't even get the diagnostics to recognize that there was a hard drive. Anyway, I replaced the hard drive this weekend, and have reloaded Windows and my drivers, and downloaded my updates, etc. My question is: Can I hook up my old hard drive as a 2nd hard drive to possibly retrieve some of the info on it that I didn't have backed up, or is it all a lost cause?
Try connecting it as slave and after rebooting the system, your harddrive may be recosnise by the system. after copy the data and format this HDD in low level.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
hope this helps
