Hotpoint makes a massive range of washing machines and i noticed you didn't include a model number, but nevertheless Google says it's a blocked pump/filter.... i guess you tried Google too?
F-05 indicates a draining problem. Disconnect power. Move the machine forward. Check the hose at the back of the machine. Try running a cycle with drain hose down in a bucket. Check also the drain pump filter, most Hotpoint front loaders have the access door in front at the bottom. Open drain filter door, undo drain cap, collect water using a container. Disconnect power before starting.
Error code F05 means that the pressure switch is jammed on full.
Remove lower rear cover of washer.
Locate and remove the large black fastened to bottom of the drum.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
Hope this helps you.
Hello there:
F/05
Water
Temperature Sensor Error
If
during the water heating step in wash cycle, the water temperature
sensor (NTC) value is out of range, or the heating element
circuit has failed, the "F/05" error code will
be displayed.
Check
the Water Temperature Sensor, Heating Element and Element
Relay
Check
connections to the Sensor, Heating Element and Relay
An F-05 error message means that the pressure switch is jammed on empty
or a problem with pump.
The fault is associated with drain
out (pump blocked or restricted in some way).
Small panel at rear
of machine reveals the pump, pull of the two pipes (Plastic clips hard
to get off, slide them sideways), remove wire and unclip pump from base
of machine by lifting locking tab and sliding to the left, pump can then
easily be cleaned.
