If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.

Chances are you have a defective hyper module. The symptom with this problem is called piecrusting and appears as a squiggly and distorted picture, usually worse at the top. It may dissipate after 20 to 30 minutes as well. This module has been out of production for a few years but some regional companies will rebuild it for around $125.

Picture often flickers and image distorts every few minutes

The trouble is most likely in the Video processor. If the trouble looks like its tearing the video only from side to side it may be the line doubler circuit. Some of these boards are no longer available but a good TV tech may be able to componnent level repair it for you.
