My machins slows to a stop

I have a Singer 6038C and it has always had issues. The main problem is this: When sewing, it sews quite slowly to start, then slows to a stop. The motor sounds like it's running out of gas, so to speak.

It sounds like it is grinding as the wheels are turning in the motor or something. like it needs oil but when oiled it still sounds very loud and runs very sluggishly like the motor is going to die out. has no power speed at all.

We had the slow issue and it was the foot pedal. But, rather than replace the pedal I disassembled it, cleaned it, then found a little adjustable pot (resistor). I used a tiny screwdriver to adjust the pot and the speed increased. I noticed that there is a slot in the bottom of the pedal housing that is for accessing the pot without disassembling the pedal. My wife sewed a dress after the repair and so far it is working as it used to.

I had the same trouble that you're talking about and it really was just like running out of gas ! I took my machine to a repair shop & "fixed the problem" by getting a diffrent foot pedal. The problem here is , this pedal though it is a singer , went to another model & it makes the most god awful humming noise when at rest. Does anyone know where to get a singer foot pedal Part No.# 362095 ? for a super low price ( ok , how about just a fair or reasonable ?) . this noise is nearly enough to drive me away from my beloved sewing & on many occasions it has! it's not a lack of patience or that I can't take noise (trust me I have 4 children 2 dogs & a husband) it's just the wrong noise ! Anyway , sorry , but the only solution is as far as I know, to get a diffrent pedal (hopefully the one mentioned above for best results)

How do I remove covers on singer 6038C sewing machine

I don't know why you would want to do that, but a good start is the user's manual. If you don't have it, you can download one free from the Singer Sewing Machine site.

If you feel you need to do something more extensive, I would recommend you purchase a service/repair manual from Sewing Parts Online. If they do not have your model listed, send them an email or call them and they can order it for you. it's well worth the money, which is generally $15.00. Singer Service Manuals

Sewing machine stops sews a minute slows down or stops then starts up

I suggest having the machine checked at a sewing machine shop
to see if there is something wrong with the motor, or the foot pedal
but first check to make sure the power cord & foot pedal are
connected correctly
