Probably to do with your mouse, try placing a sheet ofnormal printer paper under the mouse.
the problem happens on shiny or reflective surfaces If problem continues try another mouse or check there isnothing stopping the laser/ball on the underside of your mouse from working, e.g.some fluff or dust.

Firstly try a different mouse to find out if the mouse is the issue - If so a new mouse is probably needed (assuming you cleaned the trackball/laser - video instructions can be found below)
If the mouse is not the issue, then enter mouse settings on Windows XP, and try adjusting the sensitivity etc. This can be done by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse and adjusting "Pointer Options"
If this fails, try downloading drivers for the mouse (assuming it is optical).

Change the sensitivity or your Mouse/Touchpad Sensitivity.
To do so go
START > CONTROL PANEL > MOUSE and there is a cursor. Just move it to the left to DECREASE the sensitivity.

I have a problem with my dell laptop D620 it cant boot

Is it powering on at all? If so, do you see the Dell screen? If you do not see the Dell screen, it's not even POSTing. That usually points to a hardware problem. If you are seeing the Dell screen and it's not loading Windows, that is usually a software issue related to Windows (or it could be bad sectors on your HDD). If you are not seeing the Dell screen, try removing the battery and using only the power cord to power it with. If, however, it is not powering on at all, try a different power cord.

When i turn my computer dell latitude d620 on it comes to the dell screen then the windows xp screen and then it goes black with nothing more than the mouse. what could be the problem?

This sounds like a video issue. Try starting the system into safe mode (after the dell screen, tap F8 to get the startup menu and then select safe mode) When in safe mode, go to the control panel and remove the display adapter driver from the device manager under System > hardware tab. Try booting into normal mode windows- you should be able to get into windows at that point. Download and reinstall the graphics driver from support.dell.com. If the issue reoccurs after you've reinstalled the graphics driver, it means that the video card on your system has gone out. At that point, contact Dell technical support if you are in warranty to get service- if not, try pricing the replacement video card from Ebay or Dell parts service.

Dell Latitude D620 Full System Recovery?

It's easy to miss the point at which you hit Ctrl + F11. You need to hit Ctrl + F11 at the point you see the blue bar across the top of the screen, it will display www.dell.com. If this is still not working you can use the XP operating system CD to reinstall XP and the Dell drivers CD to reinstall the sound, video, network and other drivers. If Dell didn't send you the operating system CD, you should contact them.

Display problem in d620

The question there is that, is the original operating system of the dell d620 is windows xp or vista, because it wont work properly if the drivers of the system is not installed, especially if the hardware is for vista but there is a workaround try to find the drivers of your system for xp on support.dell.com

Screen resolution resets to 800x600 after every reboot when d/port is connected.

You may have to set the monitors resolution to match the pc as they may be different.
