Here is what my manual says:

Your Current Vehicle: 2001 Dodge Ram 1500

How do I adjust the timing on a 2001 Dodge Ram

There is no adjustment for the timing on a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2 liter . and the most likely cause on th eother problem is the abs speed sensor on the rear differential it is bolted to the top of the differential housing with a 10mm bolt remove it slowly in a twisting motion and put new differential grease on the o-ring slide it in and bolt it down and remeber to clear all codes or the sensor will run off of old paremeters

How difficult is it to replace the head gaskets on a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4, manual trans.? any idea on the cost to do it yourself vs a mechanic? Know where I can get a manual to do this repair?

Have you had this problem evaluated?
With the questions you have just asked and the problums you will encounter to include the need to test the head for cracks.

RECOMENDATIONS:

Take this vehicle to your local mechanic that is more equipped to handle this type of repair, This may even save you money in the end.

Hope this tip helps.

1995 Dodge ram 1500 V-8 5.9 litre 4x4 short bed is feels like it is bumping when the truck shifts into cruising gear and RPMs drop truck smmoths out when you speed up bumping goes away if you shift...

Perform compression check between cylenders #1 and #3. These are right next to each other.
You might get away with a head gasket replacement, if the compression between these cylenders is the same, indicating a blown head gasket between cyl.#1 and #3 not valves which will give different readins between these cylenders.

dont drive it ,friend oil and coolant are and being forced into the combustion chamber under pressure. if this is a V8 then chrysler havent learnt much over the years ,i had a D5N back in the seventys that used to do this ,you probably need to talk to a current dodge man to find out if it is still the water pump housing ,but i would hope they have solved that problem ,if so it will need a head gasket

I do know these are good for sucking in the gasket for the pan on the bottom of the intake and causing spark knock and oil consumption but not a throttle body gasket.
