Bent blade My son ran over a metal ground rod with our mower, afterward there was a great deal more vibration than usual. I inspected the machine and it appears the blade is bent. Where do I get a replacement blade?

You should be able to buy a replacement blade @ any local lawn mower repair shop or even @ your nearby Lowes or Home Depot.

When I engage to mow, the mower deck has a clanging sound. do I need to change the belt ?

not likely a belt thing. Sounds like a bent blade, bent housing, bent spindle shaft. Perhaps something simple like a piece of metal or a rock jammed up in the housing.

  • Turn the key off and remove it from the machine.
  • Raise the housing up high enough to look everything over. Or maybe I should say to look everything under.
  • Rotate the blades to see where one might be hitting the housing or other object.

The belt usually does not contribute to clanking noises.

Very bad vibration when engaging the blade

Bad vibrations when engaging blades is usually caused by an out of balance blade. Out of balance blades occur due to damaged and/or bent blades. The fix is to find and replace the offending blade.

Riding lawn mowere starts to shimmyand make whirring noise when PTO is engaged. belt moves freely--does not shimmy or make noise otherwise

I suggest that you inspect your blades, sounds like you have a damaged or bent blade throwing a blade out of balance, which sets up for excess vibration.

If you have any more questions about this, give me a reply and I will get back to you.

Vibrations when the cutting head is lowered . Sounds like one of the blades is hitting the cover. Especially noticeable below a setting of 5. Three cutting blades. There is no noticeable loss of cutting...

Sounds like a bent blade to me. Can you determine where or which side the noise is coming from? For safety, I would replace all the blades. I once ran over my son's baseball while mowing and bent the housing and that caused the blade to hit the side of the deck. I simply bent the housing back with a few hits of a hammer and back to mowing I went.

Son ran over a large rawhide dog bone with husqvarna rz5424. Blade seem in correct position, not bent but making a terrible racket. Can I reset them somehow or must I take to the mowere repair shop?

It sounds like the spindle is bent. You can remove it to check.Remove the blades, then locate the bolts holding the spindle to the deck.No more than 4 bolts, and it is off.
